Brits warned about method to get 53 days off in 2025 using just 23 days annual leave

This method won't work for everyone

Brits have been warned about the new travel hack which claims to give you 53 days of annual leave in 2025.

It's a universally agreed fact that we all work too hard and don't get enough time to relax.

Whether we'd chose to spend our freetime putting our feet up, travelling the world or simply just getting smashed, there never seems to be enough time to enjoy ourselves before the duty of work comes calling.

Therefore, a travel hack which claims to double your annual leave is going to be a popular one.

But beware, this may not work for everyone.

What is the annual leave hack?

The minimum annual leave entitlement for a full-time employee in the UK is 28 days. However, this can vary from job to job, with the average worker taking around 33.9 days off per year.

This guide shared by The Sun, claims to give 53 days off while using just 23 days of leave. This means it's not only doable, but gives you a couple of extra days to play around with.

So, how do you do it?

Get 10 days off with four days of leave at Easter

Easter 2025 falls on Sunday, 20 April, with Easter Monday the following day and Good Friday on the 18th.

With four days off already in the bank, workers should then book either Monday, 14 April to Thursday, 17 April or Tuesday, 22 April and Friday, 25 April off.

Including the weekend days either before or after your AL, this will give you some much needed time away from your desk.

Strategic Bank Holiday bookings

Once Easter has been and gone, the next Bank Holidays fall just a few weeks later in May - and come with more options to maximise your time off.

The May Bank Holidays fall on Monday 5 and Monday 26. Therefore you should book the four days after the bank holiday as leave in order to enjoy nine days off.

For example, booking 6th to the 9th May off will give you from Saturday, 3 May until Sunday, 11 May.

Your last Bank Holiday opportunity before Christmas falls in on 25 August, giving you another opportunity to maximise your time off.

If you book from 26 to the 29th August off as leave you'll be off from the 23 August until 1 September - which should be enough to holiday to see you through until winter.

Festive season

With the busiest time of the year approaching, you'll definitely want some time to rest and do your Christmas shopping.

Christmas 2025 falls on a Thursday, which means that booking the 22, 23 and 24 off will give you a run of days from Saturday, 20 December until Sunday 28 off.

And if this still isn't enough you could also request December 29, 30 and 31 off and put your feet up until the New Year.

Will this trick work for everyone?

Unfortunately, no.

In order for this method to work you'd need weekends and Bank Holidays as guaranteed days off, which means that if you work a customer service, hospitality or any hours which aren't Monday - Friday, using this method will be a lot trickier.
