The cold, winter months are creeping in with summer well and truly a thing of the past.

Gone are the sunnier, longer days and evening in beer gardens, replaced by dark mornings and chilly evenings with a hot chocolate or cup of tea.

While some enjoy getting cosy on the darker evenings, many people hate the turn to the autumn and winter; with your mood changing due to the time of year a real medication condition.

So it is no surprise that many Brits are looking for a little bit of winter sun and a makeshift holiday in a warmer climate.

The likes of Ryanair are known for offering bargain flights abroad to stunning locations; some of which need less than £100 spending money for a full weekend.

There's also then places such as the 'Venice of the North' where pints are £3. Decent.

Well, when it comes to cheap drinks and sunshine, Ryanair can fly you there for less than £15 (depending on where you are flying from), while easyJet offers flights from £22 via kayak.co.uk.

The place we're on about is known for having round the clock sunshine, with 300 days without rain every year.

Temperatures also stay as high as 23 degrees Celsius in the autumn and winter, with the worst lows being around 17C.

We're talking about the Spanish city of Murcia, which you might well not have heard of.

Hardly a Madrid or Barcelona and not having the reputation of the likes of other coastal locations such as Alicante, Marbella, Malaga, and Valencia, it is a stunning city that is worth your time and money.

Known as the 'Garden of Europe', Murcia has garnered this reputation due to many of the foods imported to supermarkets being grown here.

Located slightly inland, you can find Murcia between Alicante to the north and Certagena to the south, it's less than 40 minutes from the city centre to the coast where you can enjoy the region's stunning beaches.

There is also Cabo de Palos; a beautiful peninsula that pokes out into the sea, filled with places to explore including underwater with scuba diving.

It's also only 20 minutes from Murcia International Airport, meaning location wise it couldn't be closer.

Right now (1 October), temperatures in the city are 32 degrees Celsius - with highs of 34C this week - showing just how warm the city stays during the autumn.

When it comes to having a drink in the sun, you are looking at around €2 (£1.65) for a large beer (500ml), which is stunning value for money if you can find it. Obviously, you're going to be paying more if you go for more premium establishments, so scouting out the local area is a must before sitting down to sup.

There's plenty to do outside of sampling the local beer, too, with stunning cycling and kayaking routes around the brutal but idyllic Spanish landscape.

One of the best attractions is the Christ of Monteagudo, a huge statue of Jesus located on top of the Castle of Monteagudo. It's a must visit if you head to the area.

You can get flights to Murcia from the UK from a number of airports including Bournemouth, Glasgow, East Midlands, Birmingham, and London Luton.
