Wedding guests shocked as bride reads out fiancé's cheating texts instead of vows

She plotted the perfect revenge

If you're going to torpedo your own wedding then it had better be for a damn good reason, and learning that your partner has been cheating on you is a damn good reason.

Of course you could just call the whole thing off and break up with them, but you might as well take advantage of the big day you've spent ages planning so that your nearest and dearest have no doubt as to why things ended.

Revealing the cheating in front of the assembled wedding guests is a rare and dramatic step but it'll make sure everyone knows you were cheated on and the end of the relationship isn't your fault.

Bride-to-be Casey, not her real name but a pseudonym she used to tell her tale on Body and Soul, received the sudden news that her fiancé Alex (also not his real name) had been cheating on her with another woman.

In fact it was the other woman who reached out and shared the evidence of the cheating, including selfies and declarations of his feelings towards her, with an accompanying message that read: “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”

Casey was sent a slew of screenshots of conversations between Alex and a woman she didn’t know who was letting her know that the man she was about to marry had been cheating on her for ages.

“The texts were dated from months to only days before,” Casey wrote. “My brain simply could not compute WTF was going on. There was no questioning the legitimacy of these messages. I just knew.”

One such message from Alex read: “This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game.”

Another said: “Your body is f**king incredible. And s**t do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do.”

Casey shared the messages with her bridesmaids who reacted angrily and suggested she call the wedding off.

However, Casey decided to go ahead with the ceremony - sort of.

“I was going to go ahead with the wedding as expected, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family,” she continued.

And that’s what she did - the following morning, she got up and got ready, as though the wedding was still on, and headed to the ceremony where an unsuspecting Alex was waiting.

After walking up the aisle to Alex, she announced: “There will be no wedding today. It seems Alex is not who I thought he was.”

As the shocked guests looked on, Casey took out her phone and ‘read every single message’ the woman had sent her - before telling her horrified friends and family: “I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here.

"There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”

Iconic stuff, to be honest.
