Woman makes heartbreaking plea as hair begins to fall out with no warning while on holiday

Lozzy was diagnosed with alopecia after her friend spotted some of her hair was missing while on holiday

A woman has made a heartbreaking plea on social media after her hair started falling out while she was on a girls' holiday.

Taking to Instagram, Lozzy shared a Reel explaining that her alopecia journey started when one of her friends spotted some of her hair was missing on the first night of their trip.

Lozzy said that each day, her hair was 'rapidly' falling out with no explanation. By the time the holiday had come to an end, Lozzy revealed she had almost complete hair loss and was diagnosed with alopecia a week later.

"There is no quick fix or cure, this is my reality," Lozzy explained in her video.

"There's a chance of regrowth, but it's not a guarantee, you can't control it."

She added: "I have no choice but to see this as a blessing from my body telling me something is wrong.

"I'm trying to be positive and realistic."

Lozzy then pleaded with followers: "Never take anything for granted you can genuinely wake up one day and it all be gone."

Earlier this week, Lozzy shared another Reel, revealing she had decided to shave her head and explaining the reasons why.

She wrote: "Why I shaved my head...

"1. I was diagnosed just over a month ago with alopecia areata meaning my hair falls out in clumps and patches. It is an autoimmune condition which I have no control over.

"2. I was given no medical care, specialist referral or treatment and premium serums and hair treatments haven’t worked.

"3. The hair that is left cannot sustain the nutrients from the scalp as my hair follicules are damaged (not scarred so it can grow back) meaning it can all come back and fall back out again as it follows a pattern

"4. The hair that remained was so brittle and damaged it was pointless holding on to. I wanted to donate it but I couldn’t have as it was completely dead and wouldn’t have been useful to anybody."

Lozzy continued: "5. My wigs weren’t lying flat and I had to keep cutting tape out of my hair because I had too much hair in the areas that weren’t affected.

"6. On days I don’t feel like wearing a wig I wanted to feel empowered.

"7. I was sick and tired of hoovering up clumps of hair around the house.

"8. The only way is up from here."

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that attacks the body’s hair follicles, causing patchy hair loss.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, alopecia areata can be 'unpredictable'.

It explains: "In some people, their hair grows back but falls out again later. In others, their hair grows back and never falls out again. Each case of alopecia areata is unique."
