A woman caught out a ‘creepy’ act on camera while she was working out at a gym.
We’re still in the depths of January where health and fitness content is filling up social media as people commit to their New Year’s resolutions – for now.
But while all of that might be pretty positive, it annoyingly doesn’t mean the gym is free from people crossing the line.
Elena McCarthy is an online coach and so she’s one of those people you might have come across with a tripod on the gym floor, minding their own business pretty well and creating content.

However, when she was totally in her own space, filming for Instagram on a studio floor of a gym in Vienna, Austria, it seems like another gymgoer decided to snap her themselves.

Elena is stretching out in the video on a mat, as a glass door can be seen behind her on camera.
And part way through, it seems as though a man does a double-take as he passes by and then decides to whip his own phone out.
It appears as though he takes a quick photo or video of the coach before walking away. Elena doesn’t seem to have spotted him herself at this point, but he’s been caught red-handed on camera.

“My body, my movement, my business,” she wrote. “There is a massive difference between being ‘in public’ and being ‘public property’. Recording women without permission while they are stretching or training isn’t just ‘creepy’—it’s a violation of the safety we all deserve in this space.”
She added that people need to: “Respect the athlete. Respect the person. Respect the consent."

Users quickly commented to say that it’s ‘infuriating’ to watch and is ‘definitely disgusting and sad’. “Such disgusting, pathetic behaviour and unfortunately more common than people realise,” another added.
Others, however, seemed to put some ‘blame’ on Elena for, well, what? Stretching in the gym in her gym clothes?
“The comments about a woman just stretching by herself are wild. Men: do better,” one user pointed out.

And the coach added in her caption: “If your first instinct is to critique my outfit instead of condemning the person holding the camera, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
“By shifting the blame to what I’m wearing, you are choosing to excuse predatory behaviour and silence women.”
Elena also told LADbible that despite accusations online, it was ‘definitely not staged’ and confirmed that the incident was ‘reported to the gym’.
