A non-monogamous woman has opened up on her lifestyle and the unique role she plays in her relationship.

Ally Iseman never pursued the alternative lifestyle, believing that there was one man out there for her and that monogamous relationships are the only way forwards. However, the 41-year-old has enjoyed being in polyamorous relationships over the past decade, including throuples.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the relationship expert and revealed that she has a boyfriend and a girlfriend.

Andrew, 55, lives in England, while Nic, 40, lives in Los Angeles, and Ally has been with each of them for different periods of time.

She revealed that she is in a relationship with both, but Andrew isn't with Nic. Ally said she enjoyed having more than one committed sexual and romantic partner at a time, with the consent of all parties involved.

Ally explained that they enjoyed a romantic day in London together with her partners, which started with a trip to the gym before heading out.

"As we wandered through Portobello Market, I turned to kiss first one, then the other," she said.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she admitted: “People assume it must be complicated. But for me, it’s the opposite. Everything is out in the open.”

The expert said that the non-monogamous lifestyle is more common than most people think, citing a 2023 UK study published in the Archives Of Sexual Behaviour which found that a third of heterosexual men were open to having over one spouse or long-term partner at a time.

On the other hand, 11 percent of women felt the same way.

In the past, Ally was part of a triad as she's claimed to be part of 'several consensually non-monogamous relationships, including a long-term partnership with an award-winning musician'.

She was once in a triad with Nic and a third partner, and the trio went on holidays together, which she recalled was difficult to organise.

"It is really hard to book rooms or travel for three", she explained. "You get strange looks and comments and you can end up spending much more than you need to."

Now though, she is not in a triad, and in her current relationship, she is known as the 'hinge', which is when her boyfriend and girlfriend are connected to each other through dating her but they are not dating each other.

Being the 'hinge' means that if Ally is invited to an event with a plus one, she must go alone, as she revealed: “If any of us are invited to an event like a wedding, I will only attend if it's just me or if I have a plus two as I will not be made to choose between my partners.”

She revealed that everything changed after breaking up with a boyfriend in 2016. She turned to dating apps, and that led to a 'play party', which is 'a gathering of open people who may or may not engage sexually with their partner and/or others at the event'.

Since then, the founder of inclusive relationship education platform Passport 2 Pleasure has immersed herself in the lifestyle of sex parties, and dating multiple people at once.

Speaking about the possibility of being monogamous again, Ally said that she simply 'can't, adding: "For me, commitment isn’t about being exclusive.

“Our culture pushes the idea that one person should be your entire world," she added. "Polyamory is more like relationship as community."
