A man has revealed what happened to his body and mind when taking creatine every day for 30 days and whether he'll keep taking the supplement.
Creatine, gut microbiome, cortisol, synbiotics... There seems to be an endless influx in health and wellness buzzwords at the moments and an overwhelming amount of things we should be focusing on or ingesting if we want to feel and perform our best. But how do we actually know which to take and the effect they can genuinely have on us?
Well, thankfully, Mounir Azegra, founder of iWannaBurnFat, took to his YouTube channel to reveal what happens when you take five grams of creatine every single day for a month.
Now, for those of you who have thankfully avoided getting sucked into the endless fitness hole of Instagram...
What is creatine?
Creatine is 'a natural source of energy that helps your skeletal muscles flex (contract),' Cleveland Clinic explains.

"It helps create a steady supply of energy in your muscles so they can keep working, especially while you're exercising," it adds.
About 'half of your body's supply of creatine' comes from diet, foods such as red meat, seafood and animal milk high in the energy.
The other half is produced by your body naturally in your kidneys, liver, and pancreas.

"They deliver about 95 percent of the creatine to your skeletal muscles to use during physical activity. The rest goes to your heart, brain and other tissues," Cleveland Clinic continues.
The health site notes 'many people take creatine supplements to build strength and promote brain health' and it's typically used by those who are doing a lot of exercise.
What happened when a YouTuber took 5g creatine every day for 30 days?
Indeed, on the first day, Azegra got cracking taking five grams of creatine, it was a workout day, the YouTuber taking it immediately after he'd hit the gym.
By day three, he admitted he was ye to see any physical changes yet but noted within his body, his muscle cells would've been starting to store more creatine.
After a week, Azegra felt more energy in his training sessions and found he could do 'one repetition extra' in his exercises.
Day 14 approached and he found he maintained 'good energy' levels during his gym sessions, but also noticed his 'muscles feeling a bit more full'.
Day 21 and Azegra was looking and feeling far more 'strong' than the first day on his 30-day journey, although he noted overall it's a 'small boost' - so no expectations of miracles guys.
Indeed, Cleveland Clinic details creatine as helping speed up muscle recovery, increasing anabolic hormones and boosting water content in muscle cells, alongside potentially helping your brain's memory.
By day 30? The YouTuber resolved to keep taking five grams of creatine every day for the benefits.
And as is always important to note, as kindly reminded by both the YouTuber, but also Cleveland Clinic: "Your body is unique, and how much creatine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors."
Side effects can include weight gain, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and excessive sweating.
The clinic resolves: "Before you take creatine, talk to a healthcare provider. They can help determine if it’s safe for you to take creatine, as well as the appropriate dosage."
