Ferrari Driver Crashes Car While Street Racing In Dubai

Well in.

This is it. You've been training for this your whole life. Need For Speed, Grand Theft Auto, Simpsons Hit and Run, all the hours logged on those games has prepared you for this moment.

Now get your foot down, floor it, hit speeds, get round corners, win. Do it.................................. And, nah, pal, you've fucked it.

I guess you kind of have to show off to a certain extent when you have a super car, because that's generally what they're all about. But some people do take it to the extreme, whereby they end up doing something outrageously stupid and crashing hundreds and thousands of pounds into a wall.

Take the driver of this Ferrari F12 Berlinetta as exhibit A; swinging his hypothetical penis about, revving the V12 engine, which harnesses 730 horsepower.

He was street racing in Dubai (of course Dubai, where else?), and bearing in mind the motor costs around £250,000, you'd expect them to be quite careful.

Alas, no, as matey boy speeds up and quickly has to slam on the brakes to deal with traffic, and next thing you know his car is eating the central reservation.

That's £250,000. He's squandered the highest prize on Deal or No Deal there.

Still, could be worse...

This unnamed engineer was taking a brand new, hand-built Morgan for a spin, but went on to crash it a mile away from the factory.

The £85,000 motor was left with its front left wheel hanging off, and half of the front end clinging on for dear life.

Apparently, the driver veered off the road in the Aero 8, crashing into a driveway and a parked camper van while Will Jones, the owner, sat inside his home in Malvern, Worcestershire.

"I couldn't believe it. This mechanic came to my window about 10 minutes after I heard the bang to apologise," Will explained. "He said they were doing tests on a new car on the test track when they noticed a funny noise coming from the rear. Their test driver had taken it onto the road and somehow it had smashed into my drive."

Harnessing the power of a 4.8 litre V8 engine, producing 367 break horse power, cracking out a modest top speed of 170mph, the motor was taken out on public roads. Will claims that the crash was so severe that it completely put his camper van out of action, disrupting his family holiday.

"We were planning to go to Hadrian's Wall," he said. "My daughter is home educated and it was a history trip. But I don't know what we will do now. The insurance people think it's a write-off. It hammered into the van.

"Pieces of stone from the wall were thrown about three metres. It would have gone into our house if the van wasn't there.

"My wife and I are both self-employed and holidays are a big deal. We saved up for two years to buy our van and now it's ruined. I'm a bit annoyed."

Luckily no one was hurt during the incident, although the driver of the Morgan was understandably quite shocked and very apologetic.

Morgan has said that it's already investigating what happened.
