Boy Keeps Visiting And Talking To Dead Twin About His Life

Right in the feels.

Walker Myrick's identical twin brother died in the womb, but that's not stopped the boys from being the best of friends.

Confused? Well, don't worry, this isn't a ghost story. Walker often visits his twin's gravestone to talk to him about the landmark events in his short life that he should be sharing with his brother. It's a bittersweet bond Walker shares with his brother.

It's a very sad story. The nine-year-old boy's twin brother died in the womb at age 24 weeks from twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which happens very rarely when twins share a placenta. What happens is one twin gets more blood than the other - which means that the other twin dies.

For his mum, it was tragic. She and her husband had never even heard of the rare syndrome even though twins run in her family. To lose a baby while still carrying it is terribly cruel.

But Walker was a healthy baby - and a very cute one! And it was important for Brooke that Walker knew about his twin brother, even though they never met.

Walker often asks to visit the gravestone to tell his brother about his life - like when he started school in Alabama in 2012.

Brooke said she was getting her young baby out of the car when she looked over and Walker was sitting against the gravestone telling his twin about his day. She knew it was an important moment and took a photo.

She told the Daily Mail: "'He told us he just wanted to tell Willis about school. It is special for me and that photo meant so much to me. When we lost him I just always wanted Walker to never forget Willis."

Twins often have a strong connection - especially identical ones like Walker and Willis were.

"I think he feels a sense of peace at the gravesite," said Brooke. "Even though years have passed, he has told us he believes his brother is always with him. He does speak of him often and shares his brother with his friends."

Incredibly sad, but impossibly sweet.

Brooke and her family have devoted their time to raising funds and awareness about twin to twin transfusion syndrome. For more information about the fundraiser, visit the Walker and Willis Birthday Walk Facebook page.
