Hero Who Stood Up For Crying Mother On American Airlines Flight Identified

What a LAD.

It seems that the scariest thing about flying these days is the employees. First of all we had 69-year-old Dr David Dao getting dragged from his seat and bloodied up pretty badly after an overbooked flight.

Now, a video showing a mum of two crying while an American Airlines employee tells another passenger to 'hit me' has turned up. Apparently, the employee hit her in the head with a metal pram after yanking it out of her hands. Jeez.

Luckily, a man stood up for the weeping mother and he's been identified as an insurance agency president and Texas church deacon. His name is Tony Fierro, 42, and he's an absolute LAD.

Speaking to WFAA, he said: "A baby almost got hurt. That's what just fired me up, so that was it,

"I don't want to make a big deal about it."

The mother and child were on board a plane going from San Francisco to Dallas.

Surian Adyanthaya uploaded the video and says: "OMG! AA Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby."

Adyanthaya added: "[AA] just involuntarily escorted the mother and her kids off the flight and let the flight attendant back on, who tried to fight other passengers. The mom asked for an apology and the AA official declined."

From the video, you can clearly see the mum is upset and some of the female flight attendants ask if she's okay and offer to get her water.

Fierro was clearly outraged by what he saw and started demanding to know the name of the guy who allegedly harassed her.

The staff member at the centre of the scandal walks back in, and Fierro tells him: "Hey, bud, you do that to me and I'll knock you flat."

The attendant doesn't hold back and shouts back: "You stay out of this!"

The employee then says: "Hit me, come on, hit me. Come on, bring it on."

Fierro replied: "You almost hurt a baby!"

The attendant claims that no one 'knows what the story is'... weird that there's a plane full of witnesses who say differently.

It turns out that Fierro is a top LAD; he's a board member of a charity project called The Last Well. They aim to provide clean water to the entire nation of Liberia.

Plus, he and his wife, Breann, also sponsor a scholarship for finance, insurance or radio/TV/film courses at the University of North Texas.

American Airlines has released a statement in regards to the incident, which reads: "We have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident.

"We are making sure all of her family's needs are being met while she is in our care. After electing to take another flight, we are taking special care of her and her family and upgrading them to first class for the remainder of their international trip.

"The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident."
