Earlier this week, British astronaut Tim Peake made his return to earth.

During his six months on board the International Space Station, Tim orbited earth 2,720 times, travelled 114,240,000km, and amassed 1,672,203 followers across social media.

But how much money did he make?

Peake is part of the ESA (European Space Agency), and is paid between the A2 and A4 scales set by the Coordinated Organisations, a group of European intergovernmental groups.

According to Universe Today, on the ESA's website there are no specifics regarding their astronauts' salaries. Despite this, another Coordinated Organisation - called the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation - say the A2 salary is around 58,848 Euros (£45,000), and the A4 salary is around 84,372 Euros (£65,000).

Bearing that in mind, Peake will have made anywhere between £22,500 and £32,500 during his half a year on the ISS.

Very impressive. So, Tim, can you lend me a tenner?

Upon returning to earth, the 44-year-old likened his re-entry to the 'world's worst hangover'. However, it was also revealed that he listened to U2 and Coldplay while on board the space station. So if he can get through that, he can get through this 'hangover'.
