Lad Goes To Extreme Lengths To Find A Girl He Connected With At A Festival

Lad Goes To Extreme Lengths To Find A Girl He Connected With At A Festival

More effort than swiping right.

So this one brought up a discussion of what is sweet, what is sad and what is full on creepy in the office earlier.

Those in the sweet and sad camp have gone home. Here I sit.

This chap (Nick Hopton) got chatting to a girl at a festival and was distraught that he hadn't been more proactive and got her number. It played on his mind for a week.

At this point, the usual answer would be: 'Ah well, plenty more fish, Tinder's just a click away and it was a nice chat'.

Not romantic lad Nick, however. With smoother moves than Casanova himself, and the wish to be a perfect match greater than the characters in War and Peace, along with a tinge of desperation, he put posters of himself up in her home town of Horfield, Bristol, asking for Freya as they 'clicked' at Boomtown Festival.

Part of the poster, titled 'Do You Know? Freya?', reads: "I met Freya last weekend at Boomtown and had a wonderful time talking to her.

"I know she lives in a shared house here in Horfield and works in a recruitment agency, but I wasn't switched on enough to ask for her [number]."

"Below is a picture of me to jog her memory, and my number.

"Any help finding Freya will be rewarded with my undying gratitude and a certificate - PS I'm Nick."

He has since explained how they got talking at Boomtown Festival:

"What happened was it was at the Monday of Boomtown after the festival and we got chatting because we were both walking through the campsite [and] she was trying to find a way back to Bristol.

"I would've given her a lift but I already had a car full, so I helped her find the bus and we just got on really well, had a lovely chat and just clicked, really."

Instead of running for the hills, Freya found out about the posters and has acquiesced to his request and she has got in touch with him and agreed to meet up.

Since she dropped him a text, he has said: "She got in touch on Monday night, after midnight. I was amazed it worked so quickly.

"We've been in touch already on Tuesday morning and hopefully we'll meet up again, which will be really nice."

Now he has another chance.

And how many pranks did he get in that time? A couple, it seems: "It was a bit scary putting your phone number on a poster like that, and I did have a couple of calls from blokes saying 'yeah, I'm Freya'.

"We'll see what happens now, but my job... is to go out and take these posters down now as quickly as possible."

It's great lengths to go to after chatting to someone for a few minutes, but maybe I'm just a sad, lonely person and completely lacking in any romantic notions.

Nah, it's creepy.

Good luck though, Nick!
