Your Old VHS Tapes Might Be Worth A Fortune Now

Your Old VHS Tapes Might Be Worth A Fortune Now

Do you have any of these?

Long before we had the internet, VR headsets, Blu-rays and Netflix, we had to sit rewinding VHS tapes for about four days just to watch a film.

You might want to get in the loft because those old tapes from the dark ages could now be worth a lot of money. A lot more than the 50p they used to cost at car boot sales anyway.

VHS tapes are a part of the band of old technology now considered to be antiques. And just like antiques, the rarer the tape the more it's worth. Obviously.

The Mirror spoke to an expert about the titles that are most valuable today. And it turns out it's the films that received instant bans after release, which'll explain why there are so few of them.

Will Thomas, managing director at LoveAntiques.com, revealed these are the titles that'll fetch you the most money:

  1. Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks (JVI) £1,500
  2. The Beast in Heat (JVI) £1,200
  3. Betrayed (Taboo) £1,100
  4. Celestine (GO) £1,100
  5. The Legend of Hillbilly John (Rainbow) £1,000
  6. Journey Into Beyond (Citycenta GO) £1,000
  7. Lemora, Lady Dracula (IFS) £900
  8. Don't Open the Window (Films of the 80s) £900
  9. Flesh Eaters (Knockout) £800
  10. Black Decameron (Intervision) £800

Do you own any of them? I think I've got a copy of The Goonies somewhere. Drop me a line if you want it.
