During the ongoing hearing of Oscar Pistorius today, the court revealed pictures of Reeva Steenkamp's lifeless body after she was murdered by the Paralympian.

The family of Steenkamp urged the court to release the images during the sentencing hearing in Pretoria, South Africa.

Family members picked the images they thought would show the true horror of her injuries so people could know exactly what happened to her the night she died.

Please note, that despite the fact these pictures are largely pixelated, they are still very graphic.

The non-pixelated images are far too distressing to show.

Pistorius faces a minimum prison sentence of 15 years, but will be officially sentenced on July 6, after the judge has had an opportunity to weigh up the evidence.

The current hearing in South Africa was called after a court overturned the previous manslaughter verdict and instead convicted him of murder.

Earlier today, the gold medal winner removed his prosthetic legs in court to walk round on his stumps.

The unusual move was initiated by Pistorius' defence attorney, Barry Roux SC. The lawyer said: "He [Pistorius] is still portrayed as this person winning gold medals - a strong, ambitious person.

"It was not a man who won gold medals that should be judged but a man on stumps. A different picture would unfold."

Pistorious killed his model girlfriend when he fired four shots through his bedroom toilet door on Valentine's Day 2013, claiming to have mistaken her for a burglar.
