Animal welfare groups have condemned the move.

President Trump has given hunters the OK to shoot bears while they're hibernating and use a number of other 'aggressive tactics'.

Never one to shy away from a controversial choice, Trump's latest is sure to piss off a lot of animal-lovers.

The new bill on Alaskan hunting will also allow hunters to shoot during hibernation season, lure animals with food to get the chance for a close range shot; use snares; trap the animals (including bears and wolves) when they're in their dens with their cubs and use aircraft to track them. This type of hunting was outlawed during Obama's administration.

Alaska has 16 national wildlife refuges across 76 million acres of land.

I don't think he's thought this one through, to be honest. People have a tendency to go ape-shit when it comes to innocent animals being hurt, remember the kick-off over the death of our Lord and Saviour Hambre? Not to mention the dentist who received death threats for killing Cecil.

In fact, at the time of the Cecil-fall-out, post-pres Trump had to defend his two sons, who both enjoy a spot of big game hunting in Africa.

A number of images appeared online of Eric and Donald Jnr posing with their kills. In one of them Donald Jnr can be seen holding the tail of elephant, which seemingly, had just been cut off. Jesus wept, there's got to be better ways to entertain yourselves, fellas. You're rich.

Speaking about the decision to allow this so-called 'aggressive hunting', animal welfare group the Human Society said in a statement: "What the House did today should shock the conscience of every animal lover in America.

"If the Senate and President concur, we'll see wolf families killed in their dens (and) bears chased down by planes."

However, the move has been backed by Ronald D Young, Republican Congressman for Alaska, who said: "We have to recognise this is not about the little polar bears, the little grizzly bears or wolves on television, this is about the state's right to manage - not allowing the federal government to do so."

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the National Rifle Association (NRA) also supported the bill.
