One of the experts who predicted the result of June's EU referendum has revealed what he thinks is in store next for Europe.
John Van Reenen was on that EU hype years before the rest of us were. He had written that a leave vote was highly plausible after David Cameron began initial talks in 2013.

In a previous blog post Van Reenen, a professor of economics at LSE, stated that if Britain managed to land a deal whereby access to the single market remains, income per person will still drop by 1.3 percent, among other stuff.
In his post-ref piece, Van Reenen has predicted a fever of xenophobia to spread across the continent following what he sees as the successful scaremongering of the yellow press here in the UK as well as the politicians, 'the worst in living memory' he calls.
He claims the vote "won on a drumbeat of anti-foreigner sentiment", and has "drowned a once great nation."
He fears many other European countries will be "swept along in this poisonous flood."
