A boy, aged eight, tried to take his own life after telling his mother that 'being asleep is easier than being awake'.
Rex, from Farnborough, Hampshire, was diagnosed with autism in 2013, reports the Mirror.

He struggled to 'fit in' to the point where life become overwhelming. He climbed onto the ledge of his bedroom window and told his mother Lindsey McGarry that he wanted to 'escape his worries'.
Rex, now aged nine, and his mother have released a video in the attempt to explain his situation.

In the video, his mother holds up a card that reads, "Rex also happens to have Autistic Spectrum Disorder." In the next card, it reads: "This makes his current classroom an impossible place to learn in."

Since his diagnosis in 2013, Rex's mother has been campaigning for him to receive the specialist help that will meet his needs.
In the video, she holds up the card that reads: "Hampshire Local Education Authority have been told twice by our local mental health team that he needs educational support in school. Not mental health support."

Clearly fed up with the system she raises another card. It reads: "On Friday, Hant's LEA not only rejected my application for support (three months late). They questioned Rex's diagnosis."

Eager to win for the sake of Rex, the family now have a tribunal set for November where they aim to overturn the local authorities ruling on their application for an EHC plan.
Families shouldn't have to go through this torture for their son/daughter to receive the education he/she so rightly deserves.
The battle with the authorities continues.
