Supermarket Worker Loses 13 Stone In 13 Months And Is Now Being Scouted By Modelling Agencies

A huge transformation.

A Morrisons employee has lost 13 stone in 13 months in an extraordinary display of commitment.

Katie Garner, 28, has since been scouted by a London modelling agency and the Liverpudlian says she's done stacking shelves.

Katie told the Liverpool Echo: "The agency saw my photos and approached me to audition for them.

"I would never have dreamed in a million years that I could be a model, but I've got a whole new confidence after losing so much weight.

"I feel like a different person and I look like a different person - so now I've got a different goal in life - to be a model.

"From Morrisons to modelling - why ever not? I've more reasons than ever to take a leap at life instead letting it pass me by, and I'm going to make the most of every minute."

By the time Katie signed up with Slimming World in January 2016, she weighed 25 and half stone.

Two months prior to joining the slimming group, her grandad passed away.

She said: "My nan and grandad lived with me, my mum and my brother. When I was growing up and my grandad was my best friend, my soul-friend. Neither he nor my nan were in very good health so that took its toll on all of us.

"Both my nan and grandad had health issues because of their weight - my nan lost her eyesight because of diabetes before she died and my grandad lost his legs. After my grandad died I thought 'that could be me before I'm 30' if I don't do anything and I realised I had to do something."

Prior to Slimming World, Katie only put away greens on a Sunday with her roast dinner. Every other day was a fiesta of ready meals and greasy takeaways.

Katie now follows a strict healthy-eating regime of cereal with skimmed milk and fruit for breakfast, while lunch and dinner is made up of salad, yoghurt, fresh vegetables and lean meat.

"I never had fruit or veg or salad, and when I snacked it would be on crisps and biscuits - and I always had sweets on the way to school," she said.

Through sheer determination, Katie managed to shed the weight she wanted to lose and reached her goal of having a size 10-12 figure.

She said: "My life has been completely and utterly changed, and I'm positive and bubbly and confident. Twelve months ago I was so shy I wouldn't speak unless I was spoken to - and now you can't shut me up.

"I just want to say to people 'look at me now'. I have got drive and determination and a dream of being a model, although I might look closer to home to create my new career.

"My grandad would have been so proud - almost as proud as I am of myself."
