Fighting fit.

There's a good chance that you're currently sat there contemplating when your 'New Year, New Me' phase is going to kick in, while simultaneously eating all the left over chocolate from Christmas.

That being said, it's around this time of year that most people get themselves motivated for the year ahead, trying their hand at Dry January, cutting out carbs and renewing that gym membership.

For celebs who are frequently in the public eye, keeping up that motivation to make sure they're satisfied with their bodies is important.

The Thomas brothers, Ryan, Adam and Scott, who have appeared on Coronation Street, Emmerdale/I'm A Celeb and Love Island, respectively, all decided last year that they'd spend time getting into ripped shape in order to improve not only their physical health and fitness, but more importantly their mental conditions.

Enrolling the help of Ultimate Performance, a UK-based personal training company, last year the three of them began a 12-week training programme to get rid of their 'dad bods'.

Ryan, who portrays Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street, watched his two brothers display their bodies on the reality shows Love Island and I'm A Celeb and says that his transformation has had a positive effect on his mentality.

"It had more of a mental effect on me, rather than physically; it prepares you for things," he told TheLADbible. "I was filming Corrie at the time, so it's a great way to go on set and feel confident about yourself. You can use that in all aspects of life, and I suppose it was great for my brothers, too, because they can go on those shows and show off and it's a confidence thing for them, being on TV and knowing you're in good shape."

Obviously training with your brothers helps, as not only do you have more spotters but also some friendly and healthy competition.

Ryan told TheLADbible: "It was an opportunity to test ourselves. It wasn't a competition as such, but there was some extra push in a competitive way for all of us to see who could get the best before and after picture.

"We would all train a lot together, but now and again on our own, given our busy schedules. But most of the time we'd be together, pushing each other, it was pretty physical, for the last two months we were training two times day."

With the help of Ultimate Performance (UP), the trio managed to drop their body fat percentage and sculpt themselves.

In a mix of one-to-one sessions, as well as group workouts, they were pushed to their limits in intense classes alongside extreme diet changes.

"Every session was different. Every repetition was on a slow decline, then quick acceleration. It was very much in the technique that UP use," Ryan said. "It was so intense, it does change your life and everything, but food-wise and socially it was an intense programme. To keep that up would be very, very difficult and not something I would like to do on that scale.

"It's good to prepare for things, and get you to a certain point where it's easier to maintain. At certain times, especially at the beginning of the New Year, it's a good time to step up."
