When trying to get motivated to get in shape, there are a handful of tried and tested techniques to help you get your arse in gear.
Among these are the likes of endlessly staring at someone else's body until you're rife with jealousy and motivation to look the same. The most common method, however, is getting a spotter or a partner to go through the whole rigmarole with you, effectively motivating you to do as well as each other.

Donavon Nelson has a very odd variation of spotting in order to motivate his wife.
The 56-year-old spends over £18,000 a year on his appearance, and hires three personal trainers to keep his body in check.
The Londoner admits that his extensive grooming routine and thousands of pounds spent on surgery is to pressure his younger wife to get in the gym too.

Donavon wants to his 35-year-old wife, Anna, to get back into the shape she was when they first met.
"You don't want to marry one wife and find you get one three years down the line when they're twice the size," he said. "The whole idea is to try and keep them the same way that turned you on when you first met." Charming.
The businessman has pectoral implants, as well as having undergone several rounds of liposuction. He also spends a minimum of 20 minutes brushing his teeth, and three hours of grooming.
Anna does admit that Donavon's personal regime gives her a 'kick up the bum'. Another similar sort of motivation, which shouldn't be motivation at all, is that her husband gets a fair bit of attention from females.

"I get chatted up a lot when I go out, which is very flattering," Donavon says. "I never tell them my age, I just smile, but it keeps my wife on her toes when she sees these young girls flirting with me."
Anna also feels that the pairs' 21-year age difference makes her feel as if she should be doing just as much as Donavon in the gym, saying that the work he puts in at his age inspires her.
She said: "Sometimes I'll have no motivation to go to the gym and he'll be out training. I just think, 'I'm getting fatter while he's getting fitter'. It's like I'm the older one and he's the younger one.
"I think everybody should have someone who motivates them to go to the gym. At the time I might think, 'Oh God he's on at me again', but once I've gone to the gym I feel fantastic. If I'd never met Donavon I don't think I'd be as motivated."

The 56-year-old runs a Scandinavian Boot Camp in Sweden, and flies back to London every month to pay £175 for a haircut.
This really seems like it's way too far.
