'Dead' Man's Funeral Called Off After He's Found Having A Pint

Heaven really is a place on Earth.

Have you ever got so drunk that you wished the ground would swallow you up when you realised what you did the night before? You wake up, head banging, mouth dry, bed sheets crumpled into a ball at the end of your bed... it's not a pretty sight. Sometimes, you'll think about what you said to people and wonder why you have any friends left. Drinking is great, isn't it?

Well, one guy was so embarrassed by his actions that he left home. Unfortunately, his family mistakenly thought he was dead.

A funeral was called off after the man was was found drinking at a nearby bar rather than deceased.

Wilson Oluoch had been missing for three weeks when a heavily decomposed body of a person was found in a sugar cane plantation.

His family, who live near Awendo in Migori county, western Kenya, believed that it was Oluoch's body and began planning funeral arrangements.

However, shortly before the funeral could take place, someone told the family that a man who looked suspiciously like Oluoch was sinking drinks at a bar in Rongo.

When his family rushed over to the boozer, they found him sat there.

According to the Mirror, he told his family that he'd been so embarrassed about going home drunk that he decided to start a new life.

We've all been there. Usually it's at a work do when you wake up and hope you never see any of those people ever again. But he only went and did it. I have nothing but respect for this ma - although he did put his family through the ringer.

His family and the rest of the village were understandably thrilled that he wasn't actually dead. They then decided to ensure that the opportunity for a piss up wasn't missed and turned his funeral into a celebration of his return.

He hasn't completely got away with it, though. Elders of his village have claimed that he's not allowed back home until they've performed cleansing rituals.

Tragically, the body of the man who actually died has not yet been identified and remains at the local morgue.
