These Terrible Gifts Will Inspire You To Do Better On Valentine's Day

These Terrible Gifts Will Inspire You To Do Better On Valentine's Day

Maybe just go for perfume next time?

Valentine's Day is almost here. Hooray.

If you're in a relationship (shout out to my single comrades!) then you'll be feeling the overwhelming pressure to make your other half happy with the gift(s) you choose for them. Not hard, you would think. WRONG.

Let's face it - even with the best intentions of getting a wonderful gift for that special person, they'll end up with an impulse buy that took little or no thought. Petrol station flowers, a box of chocolates or, erm, Nando's vouchers? You know, the usual stuff.

But, lads, do not fear. Because you are not alone when it comes to buying a shocking and thoughtless gift for your other half on the big V-Day. Oh no, there are loads of us in the same boat.

Just to prove this, I spoke to a whole bunch of you lot and asked what lame gifts you've been given / have given out. Maybe just stick to something from The Perfume Shop next time - she'll love it, trust.

Accidental Engagement

Last year I got my now ex a ring for V-Day. And, just because it was a nice ring, she automatically assumed we were engaged. She took her dead grandad's ring off just so she could wear her 'engagement' ring on her left ring finger. We were only together just over a month - and now we're not.

Pokémon Cards

"I once bought someone Pokémon cards once for our first Valentine's together. I thought it would be cool. This was in 2014, it was a Fennekin deck and I knew my cards would beat it hands-down every time."

See-through Knickers And A Bra

"This might sound like a good present, but I was 14 and it was a gift from my nan."

Kinder Egg Toy

"My boyfriend in school gave me a crocodile toy from a Kinder Egg. And I didn't even get to eat the chocolate, he already ate it."

Food Poisoning

"I tried to cook. We're no longer together."

Leaves

"I gave the girl I fancied in primary school a flower that I robbed out my ma's garden. But it died in the gift bag so was just a romantic bunch of brown leaves and petals."

Wow. Well all of this makes my Valentine's plans of Netflix and chilled cheese and onion pasties a lot more appealing.
