People shocked after realising flavoured Absolut vodka doesn’t actually say vanilla

It turns out you've been reading the Absolut bottles wrong all this time

People have been surprised to realise that the labels on bottles of Absolut's vanilla-flavoured vodka don't actually say 'vanilla' on the main part of the logo.

On top of that, it doesn't even say 'raspberry' on its bottles of raspberry-flavoured booze, and it's blowing people's minds harder than if their heads were made entirely of TNT.

It turns out that the bottles of Absolut have been tricking our brains into reading misspelt words as something else and we just haven't noticed.

A staff member working at Hertfordshire pub The Sarries took to TikTok to point out the discovery, which they'd only just made despite working in pubs for years and years.

It turns out that plenty of the rest of us had never noticed the difference before either, but now you know it you won't be able to help but see it in the future.

Do you think that label on the left says 'vanilla'? Well it doesn't.

Yes, on the bottles of Absolut the raspberry flavour is actually called 'raspberri' while its famous vanilla one is actually 'vanilia' -all they did was flip the second 'l' into an 'i' but it's enough for many not to notice unless they really look.

Someone else said they'd 'stared at this for a good while' before they realised what the video was supposed to be pointing out.

Others wondered why the company did this when the bottles had the correct spellings of the ingredient right below the name, and why some other flavours like mango just got to keep their normal spelling.

A few suggested possible reasons for why this might be, noting that Absolut 'cannot patent a flavour' so using a slightly misspelt version of the word was the way around it.

Another said it was probably 'some sort of legal thing' which may be the case.

Anyhow, like your mother always told you it's what's on the inside that counts and nobody was complaining about the taste.

Why some bottles of Absolut are spelled correctly and others aren't really is a big mystery.

By the way, Absolut recently announced it's teamed up with Heinz to make what it calls 'Absolut vodka pasta sauce', which is pretty out there as far as food combinations go.

The brands said it had decided to team up on its 'pasta alla vodka' project after Gigi Hadid posted a recipe for 'spicy vodka pasta' back in 2020.

It turns out quite a lot of you are splashing a bit of vodka over your pasta as Heinz and Absolut decided to cut out the extra work and just sell a pasta sauce with alcohol already in it.

While this is a whole new way to be on the sauce you probably shouldn't expect to get drunk from it as the vodka is in there to boost the flavour of the tomato and the alcohol has been reduced, scuppering the lifelong dreams of anyone who hoped to get smashed on spaghetti.

A dollop of the stuff also serves as one of your five a day, so you could probably call it a health food.
