Andrew Tate complains about cockroaches and no natural light in first email from prison

Andrew Tate has given his supporters an update on the conditions he's facing in prison.

The social media influencer and former professional kickboxer has been held in a Romanian jail since late December.

He and his brother, Tristan, were detained by officers in a large-scale raid on December 29 and he's been kept inside prison ever since after a request to end his 30 day arrest period was knocked back.

Tate has released his first email newsletter to his fans after prison authorities apparently allowed him to communicate with the outside.

YouTube account Fesify has published that newsletter and it states: "I will send you my daily lessons from an unjust imprisonment.

"They're trying to break me. Thrown inside a cell without light.

"Cockroaches, lice and bed bugs, are my only friends at night.

"When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful.

"They try to pour hatred into my heart. But please and thank you, you stick with me at all times.

"Our prison guards are just performing their jobs, they have families to feed in times of hardship. Do not forget your manners.

"They are trying to break my iron mind with unjust imprisonment. My absolute respect for everyone around me is my act of absolute rebellion.

"They cannot break me."

This should come as no surprise as a report on the living standards within Romanian jails was found to be no holiday.

The 2021 investigation carried out by the Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment revealed Romanian prison cells are renowned for offering digs of cockroach-infested filth.

The report indicated that inmates remain inside cramped, squalid cells for 23 hours per day with the exception of one hour of 'outdoor recreation' time.

But, when that hour is up, they're back inside to enjoy their 'dilapidated' cells provided for them by Romania's penal system.

Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) is investigating alleged human trafficking, rape and the formation of an organised criminal group in relation to Andrew Tate.

It has been alleged that the former Big Brother contestant and his brother, Tristan, were part of a gang that tricked women into coming to live in properties in Ilfov county on the outskirts of Bucharest.

They were then said to have been forced, using 'physical violence and mental coercion', into creating pornographic content.

Through his lawyer, Tate has strenuously denied any wrongdoing.

Following his arrest, officials later announced that Tate would be held for 30 days, while investigations continued.
