Humiliated pregnant mum forced to clean up kid's mess on hands and knees on flight

The situation has divided the internet.

A pregnant mother-of-two was 'humiliated' after being asked by a flight attendant to clean up the mess that her daughter made, according to her sister and husband.

Baseball player Anthony Bass called out United Airlines this week in a furious post to Twitter, after his wife Sydney allegedly had to 'get on her hands and knees' to clean up after their young daughter, who had spilled popcorn in the aisle of the plane.

Perhaps unexpectedly, Anthony's tweet has sparked a massive debate online over who is really at fault, and whose job it is to clean up a mess onboard a plane.

Anthony complained about his wife Sydney's experience on Twitter.

Bass, who pitches for to Toronto Blue Jays, had tweeted: "The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter. Are you kidding me?!?!"

For context, he added a photo of the 'popcorn mess' that his daughter had made, which doesn't really look like it'd take too long to sweep up.

While some people quickly took the Bass family's side, and said it was 'ridiculous' that a 22-weeks-pregnant mum should have to clean up after the kids, rather than the United Airlines team, others accused the family of being entitled.

"I think it’s disgusting that the stewardess made a pregnant woman clean up a mess," tweeted one follower. "If they’re going to supply popcorn on the airplane be ready for messes to clean up if you don’t like it, don’t serve popcorn."

Twitter

On the other end of the spectrum, one Twitter user fired back at Bass: "Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean everyone is your servant. I hope this helps."

A second sarcastically wrote: "Ohh no your wife had to clean up after the mess your kids made lol what a Greek tragedy."

The popcorn was scattered around the plane floor.

Another user asked: "Genuinely curious who should clean up the mess your 2 year old made? As a parent of three kids I am the one responsible for them."

When Anthony replied: "The cleaning crew they hire!", followers were quick to let him know that, a) planes don't always have time for a thorough clean from a team after every flight, and b) flight attendants are there for safety, not for cleaning.

Meanwhile, Sydney's sister Jessie James Decker, took to Instagram to complain about the exact same incident.

Sydney's sister Jessie also called out United Airlines over the incident.

"My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her flight on @united," Jessie wrote in an Instagram Story that has since expired.

"As you know, she is five months pregnant, high-risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children.

"Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle, and the flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop.

"My poor sister is on her hands and knees, crying in the aisle, completely humiliated and exhausted, with her children while everyone else watched. Way to go, United."

LADbible has approached United Airlines for comment.
