Pub landlady fires back after receiving one-star review which accused her of flirting

Pub landlady fires back after receiving one-star review which accused her of flirting

This pub landlady didn't let the one star review go unchallenged

A pub landlady has hit back at a review which had warned female customers to keep a hold of their men while she was nearby.

Georgina Smith, landlady of the Black Horse in Endon, Stoke-on-Trent, was left shocked when she saw the outrageous review left for her business on TripAdvisor.

The one star review read: "This pub used to be fantastic and I visited regularly. However, to my shock there is now new management in place.

The Black Horse was given a one star review by somebody who claimed the landlady was flirting with men.

"Whilst the food was very good, my advice to any females visiting with a partner: keep him close by as the management don't mind someone else's partner."

Smith, who had taken over the pub last month after the previous owners retired, shared the review to social media alongside her hilarious response.

The 49-year-old former NHS worker wrote: "What a sad world we live in. I am no man eater, they could have given better marks if the food was so good."

After receiving support from her followers, Smith wrote a follow-up post in which she said: "Thank you for all the support over the past few days. Business as normal (no man eating I promise). See you all very soon."

Georgina Smith was accused of being flirty with customers, which she denied in a social media post.

The West Midlands pub has done very well otherwise when it comes to reviews, having received over 200 'excellent' ratings online.

This isn't the first time a business has been hit with a bizarre low rating.

One pub in Cumbria was forced to defend itself after a fuming review was left on TripAdvisor.

The reviewer wrote: "Where to start?.... I was going to write a long negative review but you would probably get bored with reading through all the issues...

"Main issue was the owner (Steve) who was so rude, abrupt and has zero customer service skills. If you like a dog barking at your table begging for food off your plate... then hey ho it maybe for you...

"The young waiters/waitresses were fine but when we asked for the dessert menu... we were told the kitchen had closed. Out table was booked at 8pm for my wife's birthday, we had starters, mains and several glasses of wine, drinks etc.

"Steve rudely explained that the chef had been in all day and was wanting to get home... When asked about his dog begging at everyone's table... his reply was... It's a dog friendly pub."

In response to this lengthy diatribe, the landlord of the Clickham Inn said: "We are all collectively really happy that you will never be returning as we are known for being attentive and polite and its easy being nice to nice people.

"Folk can read hundreds our great reviews and then read yours, which do you think is typical of good folks' experience. I imagine your review says more about you than anything else."

Conclusion?

Don't mess with pub landladies.
