Brits Working From Home Are Having 12-Night Holidays With Three Days Annual Leave

Brits Working From Home Are Having 12-Night Holidays With Three Days Annual Leave

Brits have figured out how to take a 12 day holiday without using more than three days of annual leave

Brits working from home are taking 12 night holidays and only using three days of annual leave.

With more companies switching permanently to remote working or introducing hybrid working, employees are able to strike up the perfect work life balance.

For those who have turned their home into their office, the perks of working from home just keep on coming.

Not only have many escaped the dreaded commute to and from work, but they now have the added benefit of taking 12 night holidays, all while only using three days of their annual leave.

Sneaky Brits have figured out they can bag an extra few nights abroad by telling their employer they're working from home.

Those who work in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday can take almost two weeks for their travels by telling boss they're working from home on Friday and Monday so they only need to book three days of annual leave.

If ever there was an example of working smarter not harder, this would be it. After all, who wouldn't enjoy working from the beach or sat by the pool, under the sun - although it's worth noting some companies won't be best pleased if they find out about this sneaky approach to travelling.

Considering the number of people who sacrificed their holidays during the pandemic, it's no surprise people are getting crafty with how to get time off work.

In fact, On the Beach claim it has seen an increase in customers turning their typical week long holidays into 12 night breaks, by taking advantage of remote working.

The holiday company told the Sun there has been a 44 percent increase in customers booking 12-night stays, with many jetting off on Thursday nights and returning on Tuesday mornings.

This also makes for cheaper flights as people aren't flying on weekends.

Zoe Harris, Chief Customer Officer at On the Beach, said: “We're seeing more people than ever using their Working from Home flexibility to Work from Holiday."

With hotels coming equipped with business facilities and high speed Wi-Fi, it's becoming more common for people to book longer holidays.

However, working from holiday is not something new as noted by Harris.

She added: "Of course, so-called digital nomads have been enjoying the 'working from holiday' trend for a while now, either by living in a van or pet sitting."

Juliana Marques, 31, recently revealed she has travelled to ten different countries, by working as a professional pet sitter.

Marques, has travelled to London, Cyprus, Canada, France, Croatia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mexico, USA, and Spain. She also works remotely as an executive assistant.

Since the pandemic, some businesses have reported increased productivity after a move to remote working - although you likely won't be at your most productive while sipping piña coladas on the beach.
