A Burger King worker who was rewarded for 27 years of service with a goodie bag has been crying for days as a fundraiser dedicated to him has raked in more than $130,000. Watch here:

Kevin Ford went viral after he opened up a small bag of gifts that he received from HMS Host, the company from which Burger King hires staff.

The cook and cashier – who works at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport – said he felt as though he'd been sent a load of stuff 'they had lying around', such as a bag of Reese's, a Starbucks reusable cup, two pens and a movie ticket.

But he's now got a whole lot more than that, with a GoFundMe set up by his daughter now standing at more than $137,000 in donations.

Speaking to NewsNation, 54-year-old Kevin said he'd been overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers.

"I've been crying for three days now," he said. "The generosity of these people is just overwhelming."

Actor David Spade was among those to contribute to the fundraiser, donating $5,000 and encouraging him to 'keep up the good work'.

Stunned, Kevin replied to the Insta DM: "Holy s**t dude!!! Cannot Believe This!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH For even Watching the Video! I Love You My Brother!!! Much Love and God Bless... I think might be able to take a Day Off..."

As well as taking a day off, Kevin said he plans to set up a college fund for his grandchildren.

Burger King told LADbible that it offers a 'robust employee recognition program'.

A spokesperson said: "The Burger King brand and its many franchisees nationwide are committed to recognising and celebrating the achievements of the thousands of people serving across a wide range of roles — all dedicated to providing our guests a world-class experience.

"Following review with this location’s franchisee, we’ve learned that this video depicts a Team Member in receipt of a peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience.

"The franchisee offers its team members a robust employee recognition program, which includes the recognition of tenure milestones and monetary awards."

LADbible has reached out to HMS Host for comment.
