Gordon Ramsay Reveals Part Of UK Which Has People He 'Can't Stand'

The chef has been involved in a bit of spat with locals since 2020

Gordon Ramsay has pulled no punches declaring he 'can't stand' residents of one UK county.

The 55-year-old chef is no stranger to ruffling feathers, so it's not a complete shock that he didn't hold back during an interview with Vernon Kay on his BBC Radio 2 show.

Ramsay started off by revealing that he loves spending time in Cornwall, where he owns a stunning second home - but spoke less favourably of the residents.

He said: "I would go down to the beautiful Cornish coast and get a little line-caught sea bass and do that with a little light crushed potatoes.

"Trust me, I absolutely love Cornwall - it's just the Cornish I can't stand."

Seemingly keen to avoid becoming the target of angry Cornwallians, Kay interjected: "He said that, not me! That's the G-man, that's nothing to do with me!"

The spat appears to have started after Ramsay chose to spend most of the first coronavirus lockdown in his Cornwall home with his family, rather than in his London pad.

According to a report in the Sun from 2020, locals took to a private Facebook group to blast the TV chef for putting others at risk.

One resident told the Mirror: "There are a lot of elderly people down here - it's an elderly population, the average age is 65 to 85, with a lot of people living alone.

"It's a scary time. I think it's up to celebrities to set a good example, not run off to their country homes."

But in a recent interview with Radio Times about why he opted to stay in Cornwall, Ramsay said: "God knows why we took so much s**t from the Cornish.

"We lived down there; we just hadn't been down there for a long time. We didn't sneak down there at all.

"We got there at an appropriate time and had an absolutely amazing time. And a time like that - we'll never get back again.

"When the kids started disappearing again, I didn't want it to end - as a dad, not a chef."

While wife Tana also defended their stay, speaking to the Metro in November 2020, she said: "We want to stay safe and help everyone keep safe as much as possible.

"We spent our time in our home with our family, and you know that that was what was most important."
