Although it might seem like everyone is at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, healthcare professionals are still working round the clock to ensure as many people get through this in good heath as possible - often putting their own health at risk. Friends star Jennifer Aniston recently paid tribute to one such nurse who contracted the virus while at work.

Kimball Fairbanks, a cardiovascular nurse from St. George, Utah, tested positive for Covid-19 while in the line of duty. She has been separated from her husband and her two children for two weeks while she battles the virus.

Aniston paid tribute to her - and everybody else in the same line of work - while she herself was self-isolating at her Los Angeles home.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel's at-home version of his popular talk show, Aniston surprised Fairbanks, and told her how grateful she was for everything she was doing.

"Hi, honey, it's so good to meet you," Aniston said. "I just have to say, God bless you and all of you that are out there doing what you're doing.

"I just, I don't even know how to express my gratitude to everything that you guys are doing, putting your health at risk and all of that. You're just phenomenal."

Kimmel commented on just how emotional Fairbanks was to be speaking to Aniston, even across a video connection.

He joked: "Jen, I don't know if you can see how much more excited Kimball was to see you than she was to see me."

That wasn't the end of the surprise, either. The actress announced that Fairbanks would be receiving a $10,000 (£8,200) voucher from US delivery service Postmates as a special thank you for her hard work. That should definitely see her through to the end of the outbreak.

At the time of writing, the US has reported more than 260,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus - and over 6,000 people have died from the disease to date.
