Kanye West has gone on a massive and at times nonsensical rant on Twitter following his controversial Presidential rally, claiming that wife Kim Kardashian-West tried to get a doctor to 'lock him up'.

The rapper revealed at the event in South Carolina that he and his wife considered aborting their first born child, North, and claimed he too was nearly aborted by his father. He broke down in tears and made some eyebrow-raising comments about abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

In a tweet that followed, Kanye wrote: "Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday."

It seems that the speech caused a rift within the 43-year-old's family.

Kanye has posted a bunch of tweets, that have ranged from screenshots of Google searches of Jennifer Lawrence and Halle Berry, to claims his wife and mother-in-law aren't speaking to him.

He wrote: "Kriss don't play with me you and that calmye are not allowed around my children Ya'll tried to lock me up."

He followed his tweet referencing horror movie Get Out, a satire on racism, with another saying: "Everybody knows the movie get out is about me."

Some of the tweets have since been deleted, however he's left others up.

Kanye opened up in 2016 about his struggles with being bipolar, however he has repeatedly said that he considers the condition to be more like a 'superpower'.

No one from the Kardashian clan has spoken publicly since Kanye held his rally on Sunday (19 July). Sources close to the family have reported Kim to feel aggrieved by West airing their conversations about their daughter North.

Many people have been posting on social media that they are concerned for Kanye's mental health and have encouraged him to drop out of the race to become US President.

Kanye covered a lot of topics during his Presidential rally at the the Exquis Event Centre in North Charleston. Wearing a bullet-proof vest, he became incredibly emotional when he started talking about abortion.

Kanye has revealed that he is against the procedure but still thinks it should be legal.

He told the crowd: "I called my wife and she said, 'We're gonna have this baby.' I said, 'We're gonna have this child.' I know people that are 50 years old that didn't have children, that have never been able to experience the level of joy that I experienced having a child.

"So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to. She stood up and she protected that child.

"You know who else protected a child? Who do you think might have protected a child? My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy!"

At this point he started breaking down in tears and it was difficult to work out what he was saying.

While he doesn't want to change the rules around abortion in America, he did say there needs to be more support for people who decide to have children.
