Masai Graham's joke might be simple, but it's received the most votes at the annual festival.

Masai Graham is the proud winner of the funniest joke at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 2022.

The comedian blew voters away with a simple but classic pasta-based pun.

Members of the public are allowed to cast their votes for the Dave's Funniest Joke of the Fringe award.

It's the first time the accolade has been handed out since the Covid-19 pandemic kicked off.

This is the second time Graham has taken out Dave's Funniest Joke of the Fringe award.

Masai's award-winning joke is: "I tried to steal spaghetti from the shop, but the female guard saw me and I couldn't get pasta."

Genius.

He scored that huge accolade back in 2016 with an equally funny joke.

His previous entry was: "My dad suggested I register for a donor card - he's a man after my own heart."

Masai told the BBC he was thrilled to once again be crowned the funniest jokester at the Fringe.

"It's great to see the Edinburgh Fringe Festival back up and running again, it's my spiritual home," he said.

"I was so delighted to find out I'd won the Dave's Funniest Joke of the Fringe award for a second time - I thought: This is getting pasta joke."

He had the opportunity and he absolutely went with it.

But if you've ever wanted to know what the funniest joke in the world is then keep reading. Don't even blink.

Gregory Brown discussed it on his YouTube channel, where he said the world’s funniest joke was actually based on a study conducted 20 years ago.

Psychologist Dr Richard Wiseman set up the study through website LaughLab in 2001, where, over the course of a year, he invited 1.5 million people across the world to rate five randomly selected jokes out of a database of over 40,000.

The winner was: "Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses.

"He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed.

"The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps: 'My friend is dead! What can I do?'.

"The operator says: 'Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead'. There is a silence, then a shot is heard.

"Back on the phone, the guy says: 'OK, now what?'."

To be fair, that's pretty funny.

Whether it's the funniest joke in the world is up to the individual.
