The parents of Chris Watts have revealed the contents of a letter that he penned to his late wife and their children two years after he took their lives.
The killer, 41, wrote about how he wished he could 'make up' for what he did to his spouse Shanann, alongside their daughters Bella and Celeste - while blaming an 'evil outside source' for his heinous crimes.
Referring to her as his 'boo', Watts put pen to paper on what would have been Shanann's 36th birthday in January 2020 and asked his parents to read it at her graveside.
Cindy and Ronnie Watts have maintained a relationship with their son despite him taking the lives of his pregnant wife and their two young daughters.

The couple, along with his sister Jamie, still can't comprehend why Watts 'lost his mind one night annihilated his whole family', saying that the tragedy does not 'make sense' to them.

Watts is serving five life sentences at the Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI) in Wisconsin for the horrific murders in August 2018 which sent shockwaves across the US.
He brutally strangled 34-year-old Shanann before smothering their daughters at their family home in Frederick, Colorado. He then disposed of their bodies at a nearby oil and gas works site.
Watts had planned to start a new life with his mistress, Nichol Kessinger, but his chilling web of deceit was quickly unravelled by cops.
At his sentencing, he declined to offer a statement to the court, but said via his attorney that he was both 'devastated' and 'sincerely sorry for all of this'.
But while behind bars, it appears that the dad had time to reflect on the life he had destroyed for himself and the ones he had taken away from Shanann, four-year-old Bella, three-year-old Celeste and his unborn son Nico.
To mark his wife's birthday two years after he horrifically killed her, Watts penned a letter.
'You and our babies had a long life ahead of them and deserved to see that life'
He asked his parents to read it aloud at the graves of Shanann, Bella, Celeste and Nico, which are situated at the Bethesda Cemetery, in North Carolina.
As per the Daily Mail, it read: "Hey boo! Happy Birthday! Thirty-six years young today. This is the first time of year when I could always say you're 'two' years older than me. You didn't like that too much, but I liked messing with you.
"There's so much I wish I could say to you and make up for what I did to our family. No one needed to go through this.
"You and our babies had a long life ahead of them and deserved to see that life. I promise the man you married isn't the man who turned his back on his family.
"That man was an aberration brought on by an evil outside source. You know the husband and dad I am and would testify to that today."

Watts said he often found himself gazing out of the window and 'wondering what we would be doing'.
He went on: "Then I get this overwhelming feeling you're looking at me with our babies saying, 'We love you!'
"All of you are a blessing to my life and your memory lives in my soul every waking moment."
Watts said he had pledged to dedicate the 'rest of my time on this earth to showing the love [God] has shown me', adding: "Cheer me on as I walk the path God is putting in front of me.
"I love you all to the moon and back! Love, Chris."

According to Cindy and Ronnie, their son has repeatedly urged them to move on with their lives and 'forget about' him, although the couple say this is something they cannot do.
Watts' mother said he is a 'good person', claiming that 'nobody' who has come into contact with him - even behind bars - 'can find anything bad to say' about the killer.
She said that he informed his loved ones he did 'not want to put his family through' the turmoil of taking the case to trial, which is why he accepting a plea deal in 2018.
Meanwhile, Watts' sister Jamie said their lives have been forever changed by the horrors that transpired eight years ago, adding: "My parents are not even the same parents anymore. They're gone.
"They wake up every day thinking about the girls and Shanann, and they go to bed every day thinking about them."
Watts reportedly called off his pending jailhouse wedding to real estate agent Lizzie Henderson a few weeks ago after 'receiving a message from God', shortly after he applied to marry her within the prison system.
