The head of an Australian man who is believed to have been killed by his ex-reality star girlfriend has been recovered.

Back in June, Tamika Sueann Rose Chesser was arrested in the Southern Australian city of Port Lincoln on suspicion of murdering her boyfriend Julian Story, after emergency services recovered his burnt and dismembered remains at the couple's apartment.

Chesser, best known for her appearance on Beauty and the Geek Australia back in 2010, was arrested 48 hours later and charged with murder and attempting to dispose of human remains to pervert the course of justice.

She is currently being held in a mental health facility ahead of a December court date.

Following Chesser's arrest, authorities' attention turned to recovering the 39-year-old's head – with the remains later being found by a local dog walker.

According to an update from the South Australia Major Crime boss Darren Fielke, a member of the public in Port Lincoln had contacted authorities after finding what appeared to be a human skull in 'scrub area'.

"Earlier today, police received information from a member of the public in Port Lincoln that they had located in a scrub area what appeared to be a human skull he said, as per The Sun.

"There are some walking tracks through there, my understanding is the person who contacted us today was walking their dog in the area. The dog ran off into the scrub, it didn't come back when called."

Fielke went on to explain the member of the public went to find their dog and came across the skull, adding: "They had to walk into the scrub area to find it [the head]. [The remains] were not buried. They were quite out in the open."

The remains will now be sent off for testing.

Fielke then confirmed that Story's family were aware of the discovery, adding: "Hopefully we can give them some comfort that we have found all the remains of Julian."

Authorities believe that Story was killed on 17 June, with authorities discovering the 39-year-old's 'severely burnt and disfigured' remains inside the bathroom of the flat that belonged to him and Chesser.

Neighbours alerted emergency services two days later, after the former reality star left the unit to walk her dogs.

CCTV footage released by police showed Chesser walking her dogs around the town after allegedly murdering her partner.

She was later found by police in a catatonic and unresponsive state' in her back garden.
