Drivers Warned Against Fake Number Plates Mysteriously Put On People’s Cars

Drivers are being warned against people putting fake number plates on cars after a woman realised her reg plate had been changed when she returned to her vehicle.

Charlotte Grundy noticed the colour of her number plate had changed after a different one had been stuck on.

Charlotte told the Manchester Evening News: "Everyone is saying it was being prepped to be stolen."

She is worried that someone may have been plotting to break into her flat to get the key for her car but that they got 'disturbed'.

The fake plate isn't registered with the DVLA, therefore, it wouldn't come up on any ANPR cameras.

People in the Hale and Altrincham General Facebook group believe that the film on the number plate is also designed to be reflective so the cameras can't pick it up.

In 2019, Charlotte says that her car was stolen while she was on holiday.

She claims that someone broke into her house, stole her key, and stole the car.

She said other crimes have been committed in the area recently - including an armed robbery in broad daylight.

"It's supposed to be a nice area," she said.

Charlotte normally parks her car on whatever road she can find nearby to her flat. But after finding the fake plate on her car, she's moved it onto somebody's drive, and has had a tracker fitted.

She said: "When I had my car stolen it was a massive inconvenience. I can't be dealing with that again."

LADbible has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment.

As of 2021, the DVLA have banned certain number plates as they don’t want anything offensive being legally allowed on the UK roads, as per national numbers.

Following the pandemic, you aren't allowed to have CO21 ONA, CO21 VD, COV 11D, COV 111D and CO21 RNA as the reg on your car.

A few other more obvious examples of banned 21 series number plates includes: LE21 ZZA, MU21 DER, BA21 STD and GB21 EDL.

Not to mention, a few more Brexit-related registrations like EU21 BAD, EU21 OFF, EU21 GON and EU21 SHT.

In terms of more general ones, anything ending in ARS or DAM won’t make the grade.

Also plates like JE55 US, 15 LAM, OS55 AMA, BO18 CKS, BL18 JOB and BU18 SHT are an absolute no-go.

Any mention of SEX, ASS or BNP are also not legal or available.
