The family who sued an IVF clinic after giving birth to a daughter that is not genetically theirs, have shared new photos and a ‘positive update’ after reaching an agreement with her biological parents.
Tiffany and Score and Steven Mills conceived their little girl Shea via in vitro fertilisation in 2025.
However, due to a shocking error at The Fertility Center of Orlando, Score had the wrong embryo implanted inside of her and ended up giving birth to a baby who was not genetically hers.
The couple realised something wasn’t right after Shea was born, as according to legal documents, the baby 'displayed the physical appearance of a racially non-Caucasian child', while both Score and Mills were white.

Genetic testing then confirmed that Shea was not their biological child but by this time, Score and Mills had already ‘fallen in love’ with their adorable little girl.

The couple said they felt it was their 'moral obligation' to find her biological parents and recently revealed that they had come to a 'mutually devised custody agreement', which meant that they could all continue to be a part of Shea's lives.
In a new update on a GoFundMe page set up on behalf of the couple, Score’s sister Alexa shared new details about their lives.
“I’m so grateful to be able to share a positive update on Tiffany, Steve, and Shea’s behalf with everyone who has supported them throughout this unimaginable journey,” she wrote.
“Over the past several months, they have identified Shea’s genetic parents and, after spending time getting to know one another, have agreed that Tiffany and Steve will continue to raise Shea as her parents with full custody.

“The agreement came from a place of selfless love from all individuals, and I am so truly proud of everyone involved. Our family’s hearts are filled with relief and gratitude.”
The update said although the agreement was in place, the ‘journey is not over yet’, as the family are still searching for answers about how the mix-up occurred in the first place.
“That process involves ongoing legal coordination, medical consultations, genetic testing, and the transport and testing of their last remaining supposed embryo - a procedure that is both complex and costly, with no guarantee of the outcome,” Alexa wrote.
“On behalf of our entire family, thank you for continuing to stand beside them. We remain hopeful that one day they will have the answers they have been searching for, and when the time is right, they look forward to sharing more of their story.”
