Tracy Beaker star calls for entire cast reunion to mark 25th anniversary

We all have those TV shows that take us straight back to our childhood and CBBC was easily responsible for most of them.

I mean, The Story of Tracy Beaker felt like such a big part of my life I classed the characters as my close, personal friends.

When Stormzy included the theme tune sample for ‘Superheroes’ it was the ultimate nostalgia pull and I’m still quoting ‘Bog Off’ and ‘Tracy Beaker shut your big fat gob’ to this day.

And I hate to break this to you, but January will mark the 25^th anniversary of the series. So, one of the many Tracy Beaker icons has told LADbible she wants to try and get the cast together for a reunion as the Amber actor spoke about her experience on the classic British kids’ TV show.

Alicia Hooper’s experience on Tracy Beaker

At the age of 15, Alicia was cast as ‘bad girl’ Amber, of course known for her iconic bandana.

From trying on bras in TK Maxx to hanging round with her ‘gang’ outside of school to of course, telling Tracy to go ‘play in traffic’, she was responsible for all kinds of famous scenes.

And for Alicia, it was ‘an amazing experience’.

“We just all had a great time, it was a real kind of learning experience for me - like I said because I hadn't done much tv work before so kind of learning on the job so and every day was different,” she says.

Of course, if it wasn’t us, we all know someone who ‘wasn’t allowed to watch Tracy Beaker’ because the kids were so ‘naughty’ with Alicia told Amber was the reason some people were ‘banned’.

“I take it with a pinch of salt at the end of the day,” she says, laughing at the thought of it.

“It's a children's TV show, you know, there's always going to be some things but I didn't think there was anything particularly bad about it. They were just kids in foster care who were just... sometimes getting up to no good. I mean, aren't we all like that as British children or children in general?”

‘We need to make a reunion happen’

Now working as a singer and a peripatetic vocal teacher, teaching in schools, Alicia says she isn’t particularly in touch with the cast anymore but they do occasionally interact on social media.

But, she’d absolutely love to mark the 25^th anniversary with a reunion.

“I'd like to put the feelers out and just even see if we could just try and arrange like a get together because it would just be so much fun,” the Amber star says.

“It'd just be lovely to see everyone again. If it’s ever gonna happen, it should be next year – so we need to make it happen.”

Alicia says it would ‘be amazing’ and I think we can all agree it would be pretty iconic.

“I would just love to see them all again and just get together and just to see what everyone’s up to, how everyone is. I don’t think it would be an acting thing, I think it would just more kind of a reunion to maybe get everyone together and that would be good fun,” she continues.

“It would be good even if we just got like a photo of all of us and just put that on the internet, just to see us all now in our adult years.”

Where are other The Story of Tracy Beaker stars now?

Of course, we can’t look at this without Miss Beaker herself, Dani Harmer was the face of the franchise for its entire five-season run between 2002 and 2006.

She of course reprised the role for various spin-offs and reboots such as The Dumping Ground and The Beaker Girls.

Outside of the world of Tracy Beaker, Harmer has appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, runs the Dani Harmer Performing Arts Academy and posts regularly on social media.

She’s often posting as a content creator, reflecting on her time as Beaker and is currently crowdfunding for an indie film.

There’s also Montanna Thompson who played Justine Littlewood, who recently started appearing in the public eye again, posting on social media and appearing in The Beaker Girls.

Craig Roberts who played Rio Wellard recently appeared in BBC comedy Can You Keep A Secret? and Clive Rowe who played the lovable Duke enjoys a largely successful theatre career.

And Chelsie George who played Beaker’s once-bestie Louise, is now a lifestyle and fitness creator.
