A Man V. Food Festival Is Coming To The UK

You've got a month to get training ahead of the big day

Do you always leave your plate clean? Do you also polish off everyone else's leftovers? Do you take 'all you can eat' buffets very literally?

If the answer is 'yes, yes, YES!' then we may have just the festival for you this summer.

A 'Man V. Food' fest is due to take place next month and will see guests take on a whole host of eating challenges.

The main event is for teams of seven and will see challengers take on: a foot of sausage, a litre of ice cream, a yard of ale, a spice challenge and a meat feast.

So if you've got any mates who can handle a foot of sausage, get them on the dog and bone and make sure they're ready to take up their place in your seven-a-side team.

If you don't have six mates though, there is also a series of individual challenges, including: the cracker challenge, no-handed spaghetti, the skittles challenge and boiled egg (I don't know what 'boiled egg' is supposed to mean, it just says boiled egg).

If the promise of massive sausage, eating pasta without your hands and boiled egg has you sold, the date you need to save is Saturday 20 July.

The festivities are taking place at Ilfracombe Rugby Club in Devon, UK, and the site will open for gorging at 1pm.

But if your friends don't feel compelled to journey to The West Country with the sole purpose of self-inflicting constipation, then perhaps you can lure them in with the promise of other more conventional attractions.

For those who don't want to ram copious amounts of stuff in their mouths, there will also be live music to enjoy, as well as a gin stall, a cider stall, car boot sales and more stalls... including food stalls that dispense human-sized portions.

There will also be bouncy castles on site, though presumably nobody who takes part in the Man V. Food challenges will be hopping on one of those.

You can find out more info about the festival on Ilfracombe Rugby Club's Facebook page.

Alternatively, if you fancy eating shitloads in a slightly more exotic location than Devon, you might want to catch a flight out to Mexico, where a restaurant is offering up a cash prize for anyone foolish enough to take on their terrifying sandwich challenge.

The behemoth is comprised of a dozen layers of filling, including beef, ham, sausage, chorizo, egg, cheese, foie gras, breaded meat, chicken, avocado, tomato, onion, spicy sauce and mayonnaise.

All the best with that.
