Marmite is launching a brand new flavour, spiking the iconic yeast extract spread with chilli.

Love it or hate it, there's no denying Marmite is packed with a punch - and now it's been given even more oomph with a limited edition Dynamite spread, which bills itself as 'explosive'.

The new Marmite flavour will come in 250g jars, costing £3.99, and will be available in Sainsbury's stores nationwide and online from 7 February.

According to the Daily Mail, the new product's limited run will last for just six months, so you'll have until summer to lap up as much of the fiery spread as you can bear.

Sophie Allan, Brand Manager at Marmite, said: "Literally hot off the press, new limited-edition Marmite Dynamite is a taste explosion which needs to be handled with care.

"We've ignited breakfast tables before with our Marmite Peanut Butter, but this is set to send shock waves in kitchens up and down the country.

"Whether on toast, crumpets or muffins we're inviting the lovers, and daring the haters, to ignite their tastebuds with this explosive new flavour!"

And it seems many Marmite fans are already keen to try the new flavour, with one tweeting to say it involves both of their 'favourite tastes'.

Another said: "I can't wait to try that as I'm a huge fan of anything with chilli in it."

A third wrote: "I want to try this SO BADLY!!!"

In fact, it looks like the Dynamite spread may even convert spice-phobes, with one writing: "Not a fan of chilli but adore Marmite so would have to give this a go."

Considering just how popular Marmite Peanut Butter has proven to be, it seems likely that the new chilli-flavoured Marmite will fly off the shelves when it drops this weekend.

Just think how it'll pep up your cheese on toast, or your morning crumpets...

One sceptic said they didn't feel sure about the combination, but thought they might give it a go 'on toast with beans and cheese'.

A tweet from the official Marmite account then offered up a few more ideas, replying: "That's one option. Spaghetti chilli Marmite. Spicy eggs / omelettes... So many culinary possibilities... #masterchef."
