A student was surprised to find a takeaway kebab she'd ordered wasn't quite what she had in mind for a snack, opening up the takeaway box to find nothing but 40 slices of cheese.

Sophie Stevens, 20, had been craving a kebab all day, and was looking forward to tucking into one that evening.

Eventually, she treated herself by ordering one - only to open the box that arrived on her doorstep didn't contain a kebab, but '40 slices of cheese'.

Sophie said she 'couldn't cope' as she opened up the polystyrene box to see the surreal cheesy surprise - which had been neatly arranged into an intricate tower of slices, which reminded people of a 'Christmas decoration'.

Sophie, from Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, Wales, took a snap of her strange takeaway order and posted it on social media - showing off the star-shaped cheesy construction to family and friends.

She wrote: "Been waiting for 5pm all day to be able to order a kebab finally ordered."

"Then it came and opened the box to find 40 slices of cheese. Honestly cannot cope, ended up getting my kebab in the end."

One friend joked: "Pretty cheesed off I'd have been Sophie!"

Someone else commented:"Looks like a Christmas decoration."

A third added: "That's amazing. Did you at least keep the cheese?"

Of course, if you're concerned that your next kebab order may be as disappointing as Sophie's, you can always try and make your own.

Qasim 'Kaz' Rafiq, who you'll find onTikTok under the handle @lifeofkaz, went viral after sharing his recipe for a homemade kebab, racking up more than 677,000 views.

Speaking to LADbible, Kaz - from Kilbirnie, Scotland - said he was inspired to come up with a healthier version of the takeaway staple, having managed to shed the pounds recently.

"I've been on a weight loss journey for over two years and I love doner meat, so I had to come up with a healthier alternative to make at home," he said.

"Never expected it to turn out so tasty!"
