A real-life Cluckin’ Bell restaurant from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas opened up at San Diego Comic-Con.

Earlier this week, a pop-up restaurant inspired by the popular action-adventure video game opened up, sending Grand Theft Auto fans into overdrive.

The famous Cluckin’ Bell in the game appears to be a parody of other mega fast food chains, including KFC and Chick-fil-A, specialising in chicken-based food.

However, BoyWorldWide has created the ultimate ‘immersive experience’ opening a four-day pop-up, with employees fashioning donned chicken hats and yellow uniforms.

Customers could even purchase the real-life Sprite knock-offs, Sprunk. They even hang a wanted poster for Grand Theft Auto V character Trevor Phillips outside the venue, taking the commitment to the next level.

As expected, the internet went into a frenzy, seeing the GTA restaurant coming to life as one person wrote: “Can't believe this is real.”

Another said: “The money I would pay.”

A third person commented: “LOL! This is awesome! Would love to go there.”

While another wrote: “I’m. Jealous.”

This pop-up comes just as fans eagerly await the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.

Details about the upcoming Rockstar game recently leaked to Bloomberg, and reportedly the game will feature a female protagonist for the first time in the series’ history.

According to Bloomberg, one of the two leads will be a female Latina, with a storyline influenced by the notorious Bonnie and Clyde.

Developers are also being cautious not to ‘punch down’ by making jokes about marginalised groups, contrasting with previous Grand Theft Auto games.

However, having a new kind of protagonist is one of the few progressive changes the company is making, as Rockstar also removed transphobic jokes from the most recent release of GTA.

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said of the upcoming game: “Production on Grand Theft Auto VI has been slower than expected, largely due to the pandemic but also due to these changes, as employees grow accustomed to working at this new Rockstar.

“But many say morale is higher than ever and that the cultural changes are well worth it.”

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024.
