Get ready to relive your childhood days once more, as McDonald's are releasing a grown-up version of the iconic happy meal.

The fast food giant is notorious for changing up its menu every couple of months, with fans of seasonal favourites such as Cheesy Melt Dippers, Biscoff McFlurry's and Spicy McNuggets having to wait patiently until they are next brought out from the archive.

However, one thing which has truly stood the test of time at McDonald's is the children's happy meal.

Served up in a familiar red box, the kids meal comes with the choice of a main, side, drink and a range of collectable toys.

What a treat.

If you've been finding yourself feeling a little nostalgic for the magic of a happy meal then listen up, as the Golden Arches are set to introduce an adult equivalent.

What is the McDonald's adults' happy meal?

It was really only a matter of time before McDonald's brought out an equivalent of the happy meal for adults and although it isn't an exact match, it's still pretty cool.

Called the McDonaldland meal, the new offering is a nostalgic look back into the restaurant chain's colourful past.

Customers will get to chose from either a Quarter Pounder burger with cheese or a box of 10 McNuggets to quench their appetite as well as a portion of the iconic fries.

Because it's not a McDonald's meal without the fries, no matter how hard the restaurant promotes its apple or carrot sticks.

However the best part of the meal comes from its drink selection, which is bright blue shake - named the 'Mt. McDonaldland Shake' of course - which is topped with pink cream.

As for what's inside the Mt. McDonaldland Shake, that's anybody's guess, as the fast food giant is keeping the drink's taste a secret, unless a 'secret concoction as enchanting as the world itself' means anything to you.

Lastly, the meal reimagines the classic happy meal toy as a series of collectable cards which include iconic characters from McDonald's history. This includes: Mayor McCheese, Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie, the Fry Friends and, of course, Mr Ronald McDonald himself.

Where will the McDonaldland meal be available?

It seems to be bad news for anyone living outside of America, as it seems the McDonaldland meal won't be leaving the states anytime soon.

The exact locations and availability of the meal are yet to be confirmed, however, a representative for McDonald's UK told LADbible there are currently no plans to bring McDonaldland meals to the UK market.

As for anyone living in the States, head down to your nearest restaurant from 12 August in order to begin your McDonaldland adventure.
