The world record for biggest bar crawl in 24 hours has been broken for the second time in a year

The world record for biggest bar crawl in 24 hours has been broken for the second time in a year

A man has claimed to have broken the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest bar crawl.

A man claims to have broken the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest bar crawl - you may think you've easily smashed this yourself, but your regular Saturday nights definitely don't ever get this messy.

On 7 June, 2022, the Guinness Book of World Records announced that 29-year-old Gareth Murphy, from Caernarfon, Wales, had broken the record for the most pubs visited in 24 hours.

Gareth visited a total of 56 pubs on 5 February 2022, so if you think your beer fear is bad the next morning, imagine his.

However, the Welsh man has since allegedly been overtaken by 22-year-old Nathan Crimp, a recruitment account manager from Brighton.

This is where we should probably tell you the feat isn't one you should try at home.

Nathan Crimp from Brighton has allegedly broken Gareth Murphy's record for the most pubs visited in 24 hours.

On Saturday, 17 September, Nathan began his pub crawl bright and early at 11am, accompanied by his two mates Ollie and Archie.

The trio began their perilous quest to overtake Gareth's record at Ye Olde Black Horse in Rottingdean, a village in Brighton, East Sussex, where Nathan currently lives.

They then set off on their bender consisting of pints and shots, determined in their mission to not just overtake the record by one or two pubs, but visit a whopping total of 67.

The trio aimed to visit a total of 75 pubs in 24 hours.

In little over 10 hours, Nathan, Ollie and Archie managed to conquer 57 pubs, ending up at The Cricketers.

In order to prove he had indeed broken the record, Nathan was sure to not only collect receipts and signatures from each and every pub he visited, but he also made sure to carry a GPS tracker around with him to monitor his movements.

They claim they managed to beat the record in just over 10 hours.

Despite having broken Gareth's record at 9.30pm and likely feeling slightly worse for wear and wanting the comfort of their beds, Nathan and his friends powered on, conquering not just a few but a whole 10 more pubs.

The trio ended their epic crawl at 4am on Sunday, 18 September, having covered over 18 miles in 17 hours, visiting a whopping total of 67 pubs.

Nathan reflected: "It was easily the hardest thing I've ever done. I completely underestimated just how hard it was actually going to be.

"The plan was to try and keep it sober for the first 25 pubs, but that went out the window 15 pubs in."

Nathan visited a whopping total of 67 pubs.

As well as having covered such a distance, over a hefty period of time and across dozens of pubs, you can't help but wonder what the trio drank in order to be able to physically keep going, their livers not implode and how often they had to empty their bulging bladders.

Nathan revealed they had to try and 'mix it up a little bit,' alternating between non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks at each venue to 'try [...] to space it out,' such as J20, prosecco, apple juice, tequila rose, 'Baby Guinness' shots and water.

And indeed, with that much liquid - as predicted - comes many pit stops for the loo, to flush the '20 to 30 litres' they each consumed out, which Nathan admits 'took up the majority of the time'.

Nathan admitted that going to the loo to get rid of the '20 to 30 litres' of liquid they each consumed took up the majority of the time.

Nathan noted how he wouldn't have been able to do it without Ollie and Archie, who he owes a 'massive thank you' to.

"They gave so much support, and it was as difficult for them as it was for me. From a liquid point of view it was easier, but they still did all the miles - coming pub to pub.

"And when I was too bloated to speak, it was them that would tell the pub about what we were doing.

"I wouldn't have been able to finish it without them, I probably wouldn't have got past pub 30 without them," he said.

While the crawl sounds like a fun feat for anyone to put on their bucket list and whip out on a rainy weekend, Nathan reminded he didn't just do it to break the record, but to raise money for Dogs Trust in remembrance of his adopted Staffordshire bull terrier Kara who had to be put down in October 2020 after battling cancer.

Nathan reflected: "Kara brought so much joy to our family and could never be replaced.

"Her smile, her nature, everything she contributed to our lives was something only a dog owner understands.

"Unfortunately, this isn't always the case and, since Covid, dog shelters such at Dogs Trust have been overwhelmed with dogs now needing a home. This comes at a cost."

Nathan has a GoFundMe page set up for his crawl. At the time of writing, it's raised £630 of its £1,000 goal.

The Guinness Book of World Records has yet to officiate Nathan's achievement.

A spokesperson for the Guinness Book of World Records told LADbible: "We are aware of the latest attempt at the Most pubs visited in 24 hours (individual) and look forward to hearing from Mr Crimp with his evidence submission.

"We'd also like to clarify that [...] we do not require any alcohol to be consumed when attempting this record."
