Doctor explains reality behind ‘Ozempic penis’ side effect men have reported having

The doctor busted the myths surrounding Ozempic penis

As the popularity of drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro continue to grow, more and more side effects are being reported.

Some, it seems, are more positive than others, as a number of men taking Ozempic online have spoken about the medication's apparent impact on their crown jewels.

Ozempic is a GLP-1 medication designed for patients with type two diabetes, as it works to reduce your blood sugar and make you feel fuller for longer.

The injection helps slow down digestion which helps to prevent people from getting hungry as regularly, which naturally leads to weight loss.

However, as celebrities such as Jeremy Clarkson will tell you, there are plenty of side effects that you need to be aware of when taking the drug, with 'Ozempic face' one of the most common.

What is Ozempic penis?

The so-called Ozempic penis has confused some blokes but they certainly aren't disappointed, unless you're the lad who already boasts the biggest one.

They've reported that after a few months on the drug they've seen an increase in their size down there but it seems as if this may just be optical illusion of sorts, as losing fat around the area might just make it seem larger.

While one urologist has already seemingly put the rumours to bed, another doctor in the US has spoken out about the rumours and clarified exactly what she thinks might he happening in the downstairs area.

What has the doctor said about 'Ozempic penis'?

Speaking on her YouTube channel, Dr Jen Caudle explains: "We know that Ozempic and some of the sister or cousin medications, or GLP-1 agonists are very similar. These are the medications that we use for diabetes, for weight loss, heart disease or other things.

"If you're using them for heart disease or diabetes, you're still likely to have some weight loss. Men who are taking these medications are finding that their penis is larger, but is that really a side effect?

"I am not aware of any data that suggests these medications cause an increase in penis size. I think that as men are losing weight, their penis is appearing larger.

"Something that many doctors have talked about is losing weight to make your penis look larger. The fat pad that is around your scrotal area, your stomach that hangs over it, the fat in your legs etc, as that shrinks, your penis often looks larger."

So, while Ozempic doesn't actually increase the size, it can only be a win-win if it looks larger and you're also losing weight, so long as you're doing it in the right way and it has been prescribed by an actual doctor.

Not to fear lads, it's how you use it that really matters, although your new-found confidence on Ozempic could also come with a decreased sex drive, according to some users.

Novo Nordisk, the company that makes both Ozempic and Wegovy, previously told LADbible: "Patient safety is of the utmost importance to Novo Nordisk, and we recommend patients take these medications for their approved indications and under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

"We continuously collect safety data on our marketed GLP-1 receptor agonists medicines and work closely with the authorities to ensure patient safety. As part of this work, we continue to monitor reports of adverse drug reactions through routine pharmacovigilance.

"We recommend that any patient experiencing side effects while taking GLP-1 RA medicines, including Wegovy®▼and Ozempic® (semaglutide injection), report them to their healthcare provider and via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme: https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/."
