A doctor has shared what actually happens to men getting surgery to make them taller – and I’m not gonna lie, it looks pretty scary. Take a look for yourself:

Heightlengthening, who has more than 81,000 followers, shared the clip giving an insight into the procedure on their TikTok channel.

In the video, the surgeon holds up the nail which is going to be implanted into one of his patient’s femurs, and while it says it will make them three inches taller, it looks long enough to be a fence post.

Scrubbed up in the video, the surgeon shows how he checks the nail before it’s used saying: “Now we’re getting ready to insert our precise nail. I always check it to make sure it’s nice and tight, so it’s not loose when we put it in.”

The video has been watched 4.3 million times and has received more than 368,000 likes.

Viewing the clip many said they were grateful to be naturally tall, while others said it was a procedure they’d like to consider.

“I love being naturally tall,” said one, while another commented: “I need this.”

To some amusement, someone even asked if the surgery is something their insurance would cover.

But others didn’t understand how the height lengthening surgery could work.

The nail used is called the precice nail.

“No way that doesn’t affect the mobility of the patient,” one said.

Someone else wanted to take the opportunity to make sure people properly consider the surgery before having it adding: “Before y’all even do it. Think. They can’t stretch your nerves. Are you gonna lengthen your arms to match your new proportions? Think about when you’re old.”

Many other TikTok users were surprised to learn that a surgery like this existed.

“Didn’t know people actually do this,” one said.

“WAIT THIS IS A THING?! I thought it was impossible,” said another.

Height lengthening is a surgery that is able to increase the length of the long bones in the leg.

It can be carried out on either the femur (thigh bone) or the tibia (the shin bone).

The surgery first started in the US in the 1950s, but the technology used today is a lot more advanced.

On its website, Height Lengthening says: “Height enhancement surgery, also known as ‘Cosmetic Limb Lengthening’, is something that used to be reserved for those who had genetic anomalies causing an abnormally short stature such as dwarfism or those who have severe deformities.

“However, more and more practitioners of the surgery have begun offering it as an alternative procedure for those who are simply unhappy with their height.”

It says the procedure can even help someone grow as much as six inches taller so they no longer have to suffer from anxiety, unhappiness, distress or low self-esteem due to their height.
