Notice how there’s not that many people saying: “2022 is going to be my year?”
After everything that’s gone down the past couple of years, you can’t blame people for being pessimistic about what the world’s got in store for us next.
And if the 'Nostradamus of the Balkans' Baba Vanga is to be believed, we should certainly have our wits about us as we roll into the new year.
For those not in the know, Vanga was a blind Bulgarian mystic who predicted events in the future.
She was born in 1911 and, despite the fact she passed away in 1996, she still makes the headlines every year with prophecies from beyond the grave.
When she was still around, Vanga opened up about her life, which she said was completely changed as a child when, out of nowhere, a tornado allegedly lifted her off the ground.
She was found after a long search, with witnesses describing her as very frightened and her eyes were covered with sand and dust.
Since her family only had enough money for a partial operation, Vanga lost her sight - however, she was gifted with the power of seeing into the future, at least according to her testimony.
When she passed, she left behind predictions that run until 5079 when she believes the world will end.
Although many of her insights were wide off the mark, a number of them have come true with shocking accuracy.
Perhaps the most famous arrived in 1989 when Vanga said that America would be hit by two 'steel birds' in a terror attack in 2001.
You’ve probably guessed already that many interpreted this as a reference to the 9/11 attacks.
According to the Huffington Post, other major events that believers think Vanga predicted include the 2004 Thailand tsunami, Barack Obama’s presidency, the breakup of the Soviet Union and East and West Germany's reunification, to name a few.
Obviously there’s ongoing debate as to whether this is the case, but amid the wealth of clairvoyants out there in the world, Vanga’s is certainly one of the most legendary.
And that brings us to today, where we’re going to discuss what the great mystic suggested to expect in 2022. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Vanga’s made numerous claims about climate change in the past and 2022 looks no different.
This year she reckons several Asian countries and Australia will be hit with ‘intense bouts of floods’.
Considering the myriad of natural disasters the world has experienced in recent years, this one isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
A New Lethal Virus
Although we’re all hoping the coronavirus pandemic will ease this year, turns out we might have to deal with an even deadlier one.
At least, this is what Vanga said was in store for 2022.
One of her suggestions was that a team of researchers will discover a lethal virus in Siberia that was frozen up until now.
We should point out that in 2014, an ancient virus was brought back to life after lying dormant for 30,000 years in the Siberian permafrost.
So again, it’s possible Vanga’s prophecy may come true - although here’s hoping it doesn’t.
Drinking Water Crisis
As the world's population creeps ever closer to eight billion, water scarcity is a rising issue.
In fact, according to the BBC, two billion people - a quarter of the human population - are without access to safe drinking water.
So you could almost say Vanga’s estimation that many cities worldwide can expect to be hit by a shortage of drinking water in 2022 is a little late - this one’s already happening.
Attack Of The Locusts
Same goes for the famous psychic's prediction that swarms of locusts will attack crops and agricultural plots, causing an immense famine in India.
Large and aggressive swarms of these crop-devouring insects hit large areas of India and Pakistan in 2020, when the world was still struggling to deal with Covid.
Whether this will intensify in 2022 is yet to be seen.
The clairvoyant also said that this year will see even more people glued to their screens - again, this has already happened!
That said, while Virtual Reality (VR) has certainly increased in use in recent years, Vanga reckons that 2022 will be the year when it really takes over.
Apparently this will lead many people to confuse fantasy with reality, leading to dangerous consequences.
Last but definitely not least on this list, will 2022 finally be the year that aliens make contact with us?
Although many people believe this has already happened, we’re yet to be faced with an Independence Day-type scenario.
This could all change if Vanga’s forecasts come true - she claimed that an asteroid known as ‘Oumuamua’ will be sent by aliens to seek out life on earth.
Although if this is the case, between apocalyptic locusts, intense flooding and humans preoccupied with their headsets, they’ll probably end up doing a u-turn and going back the way they came.
