Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has called out American Airlines after her plane seats were sold before she boarded a pre-booked flight.

The 'Fancy' singer - real name Amethyst Amelia Kelly - took to Twitter to warn families flying with young children to be careful of the airline after she claims she was left 'strand[ed]' at the airport with her son, two-year-old Onyx Kelly - who she had with fellow rapper Playboi Carti.

The 31-year-old musician was set to travel from Miami International Airport in Florida to Los Angeles.

Taking to to Twitter to address 'all families booking travel,' Azalea warned travellers to 'be careful when flying with young kids on American Airlines'.

She said: "I was flying with my son & they sold our seats while the gate was still open then refused to take our bags off the plane although every other flight was sold out for that night.

"I explained why stranding me is one thing but taking a babies luggage is pretty s**t. There’s stuff he really needs. They do not care. lucky I booked a different airline but the average person would’ve been ass out and f****d i so just wanted to warn other moms…"

However, a source from the airline told TMZ the rapper showed up late for her flight. The flight took off at 6:00pm and Azalea allegedly only arrived at the airport at 5:30pm.

She was reportedly allowed through security after checking in her bags, but was stopped when going through Transport Security Administration.

Upon reaching the gate, the star found it closed, with boarding having ended 15 minutes before departure.

Fans of the rapper flooded to the comments with varied responses to the issue.

A source from the airline claimed Azalea arrived late for her flight, only allowing 30 minutes.

One reflected on a similar experience they had with the airline. "They stranded me and my son in Texas with our bags sent to our FINAL DESTINATION. I feel you I was p****d," they said.

However, another condemned Azalea for not getting to the airport on time.

They stated: "Here's a thought... get to the airport earlier! You don't get to show up to your flight at the last minute and expect to get on. It's written on the terms of your ticket purchase that you must be on the plane 15 minutes before departure or they may give away your seat."

While Azalea and her son didn't make it onto the plane, their luggage did. It is currently reported as being sent to the rapper's house.

Azalea has yet to comment on her luggage, however she concluded by warning all potential American Airline flyers and mothers in particular to 'Be careful!'.
