Influencer wakes from coma to meet her newborn baby

Jackie Miller James met her newborn daughter nearly a month after suffering a brain aneurysm while heavily pregnant.

Influencer Jackie Miller James has awoken from her coma to meet her newborn baby for the first time since giving birth unconscious.

The influencer met her newborn daughter nearly a month after suffering a brain aneurysm while heavily pregnant.

One week into her coma, Jackie underwent a C-section at the same time as brain surgery.

Her sister Natalie has kept the public updated on her condition and launched a GoFundMe page on Jackie’s behalf.

“We are deeply saddened to share that our sister, Jacqueline (Jackie), was nine months pregnant and one week from her due date, when she suffered an aneurysm rupture, leading to severe brain bleeding and injury,” she wrote.

Natalie added that her sister was found by her husband, Austin, who immediately rushed her to the hospital, where she had five separate brain procedures just as she was going into labour.

“Jackie is expected to remain in the ICU for weeks and will continue to be hospitalized for months. The baby girl remained in the NICU after 12 days due to the traumatic events of her birth,” she continued.

Austin and doctors are navigating taking care of a newborn in the ICU while fighting to keep Jackie alive; her post went on to say.

“This GoFundMe campaign was started to provide a way for family and friends to help Jackie secure the highest level of care,” Natalie said.

She revealed that proceeds from the fundraiser would go towards costs for Jackie’s recovery, including speech therapy, physical therapy, home modifications, and alternative therapies.

“These funds will help Jackie’s long-term recovery and quality of life as a new mother. Any funds that remain unused will be donated to similar families in need or related charities,” she added.

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page has raised over $500,485 (USD $334,009).

The family also took the opportunity to thank those who had donated, writing to Jackie’s account: “We are beyond thrilled to share that your loving prayers for Jackie have been working! Jackie is awake and was recently transferred to one of the best neurological rehabilitation hospitals in the country."

The post continued: "The doctors have been pleased upon her latest tests, numbers, and evaluations, noting that Jackie is performing above expectations at this stage of her recovery and is progressing more with every passing day."

Jackie has over 86,000 followers on Instagram and frequently posts beauty and lifestyle hacks.
