A 98-year-old man walks six-miles a day to visit his sick wife in hospital.

Luther Younger, a Korean war veteran, makes the same trip each day to see his wife of 50 years Waverlee.

Waverlee, who is paralysed and was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009, has been hospitalised at the Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, New York, for over two weeks, but doting husband Younger has walked three miles each way every single day, so he can be by her bedside.

Speaking to Spectrum News Rochester, he said: "I ain't nothing without my wife. It's been a rough pull. It's been tough."

Younger added: "She's the best cup of tea I ever had. She would come in and kiss me and say baby and feed me in the bed and this is what I need right here." How lovely is this man?

Their daughter Lutheta Younger told Yahoo Younger told Yahoo: "They both live with me. I moved them out of their house, moved them in with me."

Lutheta, alongside her siblings, now helps to care for her elderly parents and says that he insists on walking because he 'impatient'.

She told the news outlet: "He doesn't have to, but he wants to. I can drive him. He just doesn't want to wait; he's impatient."

Speaking to CBS, Younger says his journey could be easier if accepted the lifts that were offered to him, but said he prefers to walk as it helps to clear his head. He went on to say that sometimes he even jogs part of the way or stop to do some push ups.

This is man is putting us all to shame in so many ways.

Their daughter shared this old photo of the happy couple.

He told the news outlet: "People tell me to act my age - yeah, right. They're jealous because I don't drink, I don't smoke, because it's no good. I wouldn't be here [if I did]."

A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family cover medical costs and travel expenses. The heart-warming story has clearly struck a chord with many as $58,000 has been raised in just 15 days, meaning the total is just shy of its $60,000 goal.
