A kangaroo was seen trying to break into the Russian embassy in Canberra, the capital city of Australia, in a somewhat surprising attack. Have a look below:

Telegram footage posted on Twitter by user @b_nishanov shows the kangaroo attempt to squeeze through the front gate of the embassy - with it even managing to get the upper half of its body through the narrow bars - before quickly giving up and hoping away.

The Twitter clip was captioned: “Apparently a kangaroo attacked the gates of the Russian embassy in Australia. I guess now we know where kangaroos stand on the war”.

Members of the public have been giving their reactions on Twitter and other forms of social media to this unexpected kangaroo attack, with one Ukrainian user saying: "Considering the outcome of armed conflicts with kangaroos in the past, I wouldn't mind if we get some as military aid."

Meanwhile, another commenter added: "You've got it wrong. Kangaroo was trying to defect. Drunk Russian embassy staff didn't let it in."

"Russia will roo the day they invaded Ukraine," a third user jokingly added.

Another then added: "Well you know Russian propaganda, they gonna say that this poor guy was deeply suppressed at home and was seeking refuge in Russia."

Well, the curious kangaroo isn't the only one taking aim at Russia in this part of Canberra.

According to the Daily Mail, the Kingston Hotel - a pub across the road from the embassy - recently put up a large Ukrainian flag on top of its roof in a bid to show support for the people of Ukraine after months of attacks from Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced back in February he was launching a ‘special military operation’ on Ukraine after Russian troops lined the Ukrainian border.

The West quickly responded with unpredicted sanctions on Russia that continue today. This includes the United States barring multiple Russian banks from the US financial system.

The UK, meanwhile, has introduced sanctions on Russian oligarchs such as former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Since the war broke out, Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has refused to surrender to Russia and has been on the front line. With help from Western allies such as the UK, Russia has failed to take over parts of the county.

Ukraine remains in control of the capital city Kyiv after Russian troops were ordered to withdraw following 'heavy losses and little progress in the offensive'.

The crisis in Ukraine remains ongoing after nearly 175 days since the devastating war began.
